11th Anniversary Ale.

A blend of imperial stout, imperial brown, porter and imperial red ales, all aged in new American oak, bourbon and brandy barrels.

As a finished beer- Eleven is far more structured and refined than any previous blend. We bottled this beer a full month before release to allow it to integrate fully. It is not a beer of broad strokes or exclamation points, but a beer of subtle nuances and secrets. It best enjoyed in a half filled brandy snifter or wine glass. Allow it to warm to 55F to fully enjoy the pleasing and complex aromas. We kept the carbonation very low to compliment Eleven’s smooth texture. If left in a cool dark place, I suspect that this beer will age well.

Thank you Benazi. Bomber @ Sebletitje’s Farewell Tasting. Black with barely any bubbles. Oxidation is huge in the nose, leaves, plastic, huge oxidation, nail polish with harsh booze, plastic, barrel, there is some bourbon but it is far too oxidized. Taste has touch less oxidation but it is still huge, massively oxidized, plastic, cellar, low bourbon, plastic, oxidized plastic malts, booze is extreme, varnish & nail polish qualities, sugar, oxidized malts sugar. Plastic & harsh nail polish body. This was clearly an awesome beer at some point but oxidation is far too big for me at this point. Bottle says 01 Nov. 2007. This is 9 years old by this point.

Clear dark purple to brown beer, aery irregular beige head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: very oxidized, caramel, lots of vanilla, some milk chocolate, sweet. MF: soft carbon, full body. Taste: soft acidity, lots of alcohol, sweet malts, caramel, sugary, chocolate, lots of vanilla, lovely stuff. Aftertaste: soft bitterness, alcohol, chocolate, soft roast, lots and lots of vanilla. What a beer!

Bottle [from trade with Madmitch76] shared @ Sebletitje’s Farewell tasting. Red-brown color, small to average sized off-white head. Aroma ’is’ a bit old (no surprise given it was brewed 9 or 10 years ago), but still quite nice. Taste malts, caramel, bourbon and brandy still there. Still nice, but clearly past its prime.

I’m feeling marshmallow and great age, if it has a taste. Caramel malt with some booze and subtle barrel flavours. Pours dark brown with good head and lacing. Nice barrel in finish, bittersweet taste. Creamy texture. Big thanks to Sammy - it’s more like my birthday than his with a beer like this.

Sample at Kurt’s 49th birthday party. The beer is a very dark reddish-brown color with a medium light tan head with large bubbles that evaporates steadily. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of oaky bourbon, hops and vanilla. Rich body with flavors of caramel malt, bourbon, dark chocolate and hops. The finish is oaky with a lingering burnt sugar and malt aftertaste. Another solid anniversary beer from Firestone.

enjoyed the weekend of RBWG 2011pours dark brown with a thin tan head. Aroma is semi tart barrel elements, the brandy lends a nice sweet nose. Flavor is solid toast and toffee malt character with tons of wood, vanilla, oak, birch. Ends with a nice smooth mix of brandy and bourbon, this is so mellow and has stood the test of time.
