Think about a Californian sunset. Think about a lush, dense, coniferous forest. Or let all thoughts gradually slip from your head as you savour this bold, yet clean and deceptively drinkable, West Coast-style Imperial IPA.

Can. Light haze on this gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Smooth and slightly viscous palate, reasonable fine carbonation. Light smooth malts, a medium sweetness. Piney hops with a decent dose of bitterish skunky hops. Back end is resinous and slightly bitter citrus, mostly peel but some fresh citrus in there. A little tropical fruits before a smooth and semi dry finish. Rich and complex but lacks a central character to hang it all together.

Can shared. Slight hazy light golden with fluffy white head. Cheesy hops, sweet malts and oats, pine, flowery, soft candy, pineapple, Amaretto, resin, grassy. Over medium sweet and bitter. Over medium bodied. OK but not great, it's a bit all over the place.

Can at home. Picked up from CW online or Unit 9. Pours hazy gold with a decent white head. Aroma is orange and apricot, lots of sticky pine hop, bit of pithy grapefruit. Taste is apricot, orange, bit sticky pine hop hit leading to a sticky bitter finish with plenty more orange. Lovely and smooth, good stuff

Can at home, from CW online, 27/03/20. Lightly hazed golden orange with a decent off white cap. Nose is bitter orange, light pine, ripe melon, crisp malt base, lemon rind, light floral tones. Taste comprises bitter orange, grass, perfume, light pine, grapefruit zest, airy malts, lemon zest. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close spiked with very lightly aggressive juicy come grassy hop bitterness. Decent enough easy drinking DIPA … gets the West Coast vibe across.

Can. CW online. Moderate haze on a pale, orange gold. Fine white head is lasting and semi lacing. Nose has pine freshener. Some unripe orange. Clean enough malt. Not too much going on here. Taste is sweet and fruity, with moderate, oily bitterness. Medium body. Fine carbonation. Drinks easy at the ABV. Lingering bitterness to finish. Ok, but certainly not top tier CW.
