Bottled Jan, 14 2016, drunk 7/3/17.
So this one just showed up on the shelves which is odd. Guess they felt it’s aged well enough to release some old stocks of it?
Careful pour yields a light haze in this dark golden beer. Large, well-retained, white head atop.
Smells lovely, with coarse, dry-hopped notes imparting lemon and light tangerine with the light perfume-like character indicative of their hopping style. Malts behind it show a tinge of honey/caramel with more forward biscuit character. Clean and bright with plentiful peppery phenols lingering and no alcohol.
Tons more peppery phenols wash over the palate upon first sip. A deep malt texture is both soft and dry with a hint of oxidation and predominantly bread and light caramel that take the focus off the hop bitterness as the beer transitions in to the light perfume and pepper climax that dlS is known for. The age has no doubt softened/mellowed things and it’s now a fully functional Belgian ambree with a good brace of bitterness. Light plaster/cellar/mustiness lingers on the finish. A bit more caramel-heavy than I’d like but other than that it’s flawless.

Tap. Rather clear golden color with small white head. Aroma is earthy, spicy hops, a bit flowery. Taste is again grassy, earthy hops, flowery, with a slight sweet-estery addition and a hint of ethanol. Oily creamy mouthfeel. A great Belgian Ale!

Pours gold into a snifter. Bright white head with good retention meringues as it recedes to coat surface. Biscuit, citrus, bread and yeast aromas. Crisp with sweet biscuit and hay upfront turning to yeast in the lasting finish. Nice.

330ml bottle [A gem of bartlebier’s latest box to OWL, thank you very much!]. Quite milky, yellow-ish, pale golden colour with huge, frothy, mostly lasting, minimally lacing, snow-white head. Peppery spicy, yeasty aroma, underlying fruitiness, hints of (unripe) peach, mirabelle, nectarine, a mandarine shade. Taste is dry, bitter hoppy, fruity and minimally peppery spicy yeasty, hints of unripe stone fruit, peach, mirabelle, nectarine, nuances of melon and mandarine, subtle sweetness, grassy-spicy hoppy interludes; prickling, lively carbonation. Complex but not complicated, highly drinkable, very refreshing.

Bottle pour at Shelton Brothers. Lots of zesty citrus and bready malts. Clean and crisp on the palate with good carbonation. Marmalade, lemon zest. Crisp and lingering bitter finish, but balanced.

0,33l bottle at home courtesy of Saeglopur, big thanks. I think it says: Bottled 28 Jan 2016. BB 28 Jan 2017. light yellow almost clear color, rather big white head. smells quite subtle, of light yeast, ripe fruits, light barnyard, lightly flowery, light citrus. overall nice smell. medium to full body, soft carbonation, slick moutfheel. tastes of flowers, honey, light berry notes, raspberries, light vanilla, light cocoa powder, spices, lightly yeasty, light coriander, a bit citric. finishes medium dry and lightly bitter with notes of vanilla, light yeast and coriander. very nice one, lovely balance. smell is good, but the taste is really really lovely compared, very nice, soft and nuanced flavors. great stuff.

330 ml bottle from Etre Gourmet, bb Jan 17.
Golden-amber, hazy body, with a big, fluffy, lacing, off-white head.
Aroma of flowers, citrus, grass, bread, some sweet fruits, slight young cheese.
Taste follows this, with pine, herbs, some honey.
Medium, a bit oily mouthfeel, with a lively carbonation.
Finishes smooth, bitter, a bit dry, lingering piney, zesty, floral, a bit bready, subtly sweet fruity.
Tasty. Once again, a greatly balanced hoppy Belgian ale by De la Senne, that drinks very smooth. Lovely floral and piney hop notes, with moderate, sweet notes from the background. Very quaffable stuff with a lot of character.

Tap into a wineglass showing well filtered neon yellow with sparse white foam. The nose shows light citrus and bready malts perfectly blended. The palate is light bodied and lightly carbonated. Flavors of light citrus and bready malts with a light bitterness.
