Threesome – birra legno tempo (ed. 2014 e 2015). In 2014 our beer Milva has settled for seven months in the Pinot Noir Barrique woods of the Haderburg Cellar of Bolzano. Time has changed it transforming this beer in something unique, a fascinating union between wine and beer, Time and Nature… On the nose we can detect ripe cherry notes and wine notes created by the wine itself but also from the malt oxidation. In less quantity we can catch mineral and iodine sensations. On tasting we recover the wine note with a sour shade. Final is undoubtedly bitter and persistent It’s a complex beer with a light body

In the 2015 edition we added a Barrique of Tenuta San Leonardo… It still needs a bit of Time… but it’s coming soon!

Pours rather clear, dark amber. Small white head. Smell is bit sour, some oak. Taste is full, oak, rather Sharp , mild buttery sourness. Really soft and gentle. Some wine caracteristics. Ok, but nothing much more.

(29.11.2015) Aged on Haderburg Pinot Noir Barrique vs. Barrique of Tenuta San Leonardo (other version listed on here). Sampled 375 ml. bottle @ “Vini Birre Ribelli 2015”. Sampled both versions. Labels had different colours & in the back you could read barrel numbers. Barrel 2: Deep amber, some bubbles. Nose is big sherry oxidation, walnut, spirit, oak, vinous, thick spices, dry,… Taste is big sherry oxidation, red wine, marzipan, mild funk, very dry oak, grape, almond,… Very dry, near flat oxidation body. Barrel 1: Way deeper red amber, bubbles only. Smell carries more rich oak qualities than the firs one, almond, marzipan, still very heavy sherry & walnut oxidation, oxidized red wine. Vanilla, almond, sugar, candy, hugely dry red wine & very big oxidation taste, oak, vanilla, barrel. Bode dry, flat oxidized body. You can fault these for very heavy oxidation but I really dug the dry grape, oak & sherry flavours. Consider me a ban. 4.4/5 for Barrel 2. 4.6/5 for Barrel 1.
