Bottle @ home. Hazy yellow color, full sized white to off-white head that lasts for a long time. Smell and taste are absolutely dreadful. It reminds me of the smell of asperges piss ’following day’. Omg I have to get a new glass. Dreadful. Instant drainpour.

Troebel geel bier met schuim. Smaak is zoet en licht bitter, fruitig citrus met een lichte ginseng ondertoon die hier zeker niet misstaat. Deze is duidelijk beter dan de brune.

Bottled. Hazy deep orange colour with a mediumsized fluffy/foamy off-white head, which leaves good lace. Aroma at first was very white peppery with chili and some kind of juniper/ginger notes. Then it struck me with ginseng. Flavour is ginseng, some white pepper, mild spruce, sweet malts and also a bit toffeeish notes. The sweetness in the brew takes the "chiliburn" away and makes it quite balanced and mellow.

Sampled 330 ml. bottle @ Modeste 2015. Hazy orange, small white head. Nose is vegetable & similar to Wilmersburger Paprika cheese (a vegan cheese), so very weird & messed-up, this does not work in a beer, some plastic notes. Taste is same cheese, lactic, chemical, soy lemonade, fizzy. Fizzy body. Way too messed-up in a bizarre way, chemical concoction. The lower ABV version was manageable but this one nope.

Sampled at Modeste 2015. Pours blonde, small white head. Smell is bitter, with notes of the ginseng. Taste is a bit bitter, herbal. More creamy mf than the other version. Bit less chemical as well, yet still pretty poor.

From tap at Modeste. New ginseng-spiced tripel from Grain d’Orge, with a lacing, off-white, thick and moussy head and cloudy, peachy yellow blonde robe. Strong aroma of smoked paprika powder, buttermilk (diacetyl), red apple, bubblegum, raw white cabbage, dough, fried egg, butterscotch - a weird potpourri but clearly indicating spiced ale. Sweetish onset, apple with spiciness surrounding it, creamy mouthfeel with medium carbo, supple, caramelly maltiness, with sweetish spiciness continuing well into the finish - I assume this represents the ginseng, aided by some deep, leafy hop bitterness in the end and a dash of gin-like, warming alcohol. Weird, that much is clear, but not unlikeable to my personal palate. I guess this is the kind of beers which can sharply divide opinions - which only makes them more interesting. I cannot say this is well-balanced, but I do like its audacity and I did enjoy it.

Draught Veiled, albeit brignt orange beer with small off-white head. Again the spice - I’d guess ginger blindly, but of course ginseng. A bit of earthy notes, roots as beetroot. Sweeter than the Blonde, and an impression of oxydation, stale cookies. Again spiced flavours, of coures. Very slick, medium nearly well-bodied. Feels quite carbonated. OK, but the light version is again as much interesting...
