Draught @ Van Moll Brewpub. Clear yellow golden color, medium to full sized dense white head that lasts for quite a long time and leaves good lacing. Smell and taste malts, light bitter hops, lightly yeasty in the finish. Not your typical saison, more towards a bitter blond. Not bad.

14/XI/15 - on tap @ De Brouwerij / Oude Maalderij (Izegem) - BB: n/a (2015-1558)

Clear blond beer, small creamy white head, little stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: fruity peaches, some banana, bit yeasty. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: fruity start, little bitter, some banana, bit herbal, coriander touch, some citrus. Aftertaste: bitter, fruity, quite some banana, Belgian yeast profile but not too offensive, spicy touch, little sweet.

On tap at gollem. Thick creamy white head. Hazy golden pour. Peppery aroma. A decent saison.

Sampled draft @ Modeste 2015. Hazy citrus, small white head. Nose is very weird metallic, huge spiced, massively overs-spiced, heavy coriander & weird ginger-like spice. Taste is weird very sweet spices, pure coriander soup, extreme spices, lightly metallic, esters, sweet, herbs, some honey sweetness,… Sweetish oily but a touch thin body. Spices are ridiculously heavy in this one, way too much. Aptly made but the spices are way too much for me to enjoy.

At Modeste; the name apparently simply refers to the fact that this is the first batch of the first beer brewed at their new facilities, an inauguration, so to speak. Thick, lacing, snow white, dense head over a hazy straw yellow blonde beer. Aroma of cereals, honey, buttermilk, pineapple, fresh grass, vanilla ice cream, green tea, jute, coriander, bubblegum and a faraway hint of smoked sausage. Fruity, estery taste, pineapple, pear, some banana, soft carbo, honeyish malt sweetness, bit bready adorned with spicy notes from the start and getting stronger retronasally (coriander), leaving a thin bittersweet coating on the tongue; grassy hoppy bitterish finish with a hint of warming, ’jenever’-like alcohol. A bit unusual and surely drinkable, but I’m sure much better brews will emerge from the new installment soon.

At Modeste 2015. Pours rather clear blonde, good white head. Smell is dry, bit fruity, yeast. Taste is bitter, malty, saison yeast. Some residential sweetness. Very balanced, I like it

Draught Fast gone small white head over hazy yellow beer with a faint Grünstich. Very spicy nose, bit of alcohol, spicy malts. Again spiced taste, but thankfully less. Dry malts & dried herbs, green tea, bit pharmaceutical. Somehow I get a starch impression. Medium bodied, quite slick, flavours levelling out in a more balanced way after some time. Not exactly my cup of (green) tea. Overspiced to say the least.
