Sunday Morning Stout, a barrel aged stout from brewmaster Chris Wilson and his team at Weyerbacher. Aptly named too, as SMS is a stout aged in bourbon barrels with coffee. The best part of waking up.

A dense near black body with a luscious dark tan head. A sumptuous nose includes chocolate fudge, bourbon, mild coffee and malt. A really nice blending of barreled tastes and beer basics. Taste profile is well integrated, with up-front chalky-dry chocolate, roasted malt, cream, some coffee, caramel, bourbon warmth and rich dark berries. Do you need more?? Smooth, rich and integrated. I’m in.

Draft, flight pour, at The Bar on 22, 3/12/24. (11) Dark brown color, light brown head. Decent lace coat to it. Roast and coffee. Plenty of bourbon. Vanilla and caramel notes. Decent.

Bottle shared by Eric @ Warpigs. Thanks buddy. Pours pitch black with a small brown head. Aroma and taste is full of rich coffee, chocolate, caramel, subtle bourbon, vanilla, fudgey notes, malty, dark fruits. KBS killer for sure.

12 oz. bottle. 2017 bottling, I think. Pours black, with a small, fizzy, brown head that disappears very quickly. The nose is maple syrup, coffee, soy sauce, licorice, and black pepper. Quite sweet, and just a little bitter. Heavy body, with a thick, syrupy palate. This is an assertive and tasty stout. Might be a little too old...

Awesome BBA impy stout. Coffee, dark chocolate, anise, spicy oak, vanilla, caramel, and bourbon, all kept thankfully dry and bitter. Sweet around the edges, boozy at the center, and good all around. Kicks ass.

Bottle Black pour with a small, quickly dissipating tan head. Aroma of espresso, dark chocolate, roast malt, alcohol. Complex flavor of dark roast espresso, dark bitter chocolate, licorice and bourbon. Full bodied slow sipper.

Very weyerbacher, not enough maple or sweets, but good bourbon, like KBS better. More coffee than anything

On tap at Clouds, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out notes of bourbon and coffee upfront, with lots of vanilla and more subdued roast. Flavour is quite intense, with lots of earthy coffee, subdued bourbon, and a touch of vanilla. A bit too earthy and dusty, with a rather chalky palate. I'm not sure this is at its prime, given the high ratings here, but this doesn't seem all that well dialed in.

A deep dark stout with a thin brown head. In aroma, nice chocolate malt with light dark fruits, molasses, plums, light coffee, nice and smooth. In mouth, loads of chocolate malt, alcool warmth, resinous hops, licorice notes, molasses, very nice and complex. On tap at Whole Foods Tampa.
