Het concept van 2 bieren (Hendrik Geeraert bier en Karel Cogge bier) kadert in de herdenking van WO I en verwijst naar één van de belangrijkste gebeurtenissen toen in onze regio: de onderwaterzetting bij Nieuwpoort in oktober 1914. Hendrik Geeraert uit Nieuwpoort en Veurnenaar Karel Cogge speelden daarin een sleutelrol. Het is ook de bedoeling om een deel van de opbrengst te schenken aan ontwikkelingssamenwerking, meer bepaald de straatkinderen in Peru.

Bottle shared with JMD at HNB 14.06.15. Dark ruby. Dense beige head and lacing. Winelike aroma of dried berries, candy sugar and jam. Crisp and similar taste. Well-balanced and refreshing, with good drinkability.

Bottle 330ml. @ [ PBF X ] Petalax Beer Festival 2015 by oh6gdx, Petalax, Finland. [ As Karel Cogge ].Clear medium amber color with a small to average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, bread, caramel, dark malt - toasted. Flavor is moderate sweet with a average duration, sweet malt, caramel, sugary, fruity. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20150724]

Bottled@PBF X. Deep amber colour, small white head. Aroma is fruity, floral, mildly spruce and spiced notes as well. Flavour is fruity, floral, some mild spices, wood and herbal notes as well.

Bottle at PBFX. Dark brown color, medium-sized off-white head. Caramel, some old bruinish notes. Medium-bodied. Acidic, malts, riped fruits. Not so fresh.

Bottled at Petalax Beer Festival. Hazy copper/amber, small head. Lemony caramel aroma. Sweetish with medium body and rounded mouthfeel. Sourish caramel, some hay. Mid bitter finish.

Flaske delt med Ovesen på omstikkingskveld juni-15: vakker rubinrød farge med fint skum. Deilig duft av røde bær, karamell, syltetøy. Superb avrundet smak med et lett vinøst preg i tillegg til elenmentene i aromaen. Fin munnfylde og middels lang, men bæraktig og behagelig ettersmak. Som i så mange belgiske er humlebruken diskret.

330 ml. bottle @ home. Purchased @ Willems & Zoon. Commissioned for a bar apparently. Label suggest chilling the beer for 4 hours before drinking, okay. Very slow gusher. Dark hazy amber, light tanned head, small, lacing. Nose is lightly rotting overly sweet candy sugar dark fruits & malts with some cough syrup, smells off, rotting dark fruits. Taste is bitter wash powder nasty overripe dark fruits & caramel apple, bitter nasty herbs, tastes unpleasant, bitter spoiled dark fruits, candy sugar & light cough sugar sweet, nasty chemical bitterness dominates heavily mixed with unpleasant herbs,… Body is touch thicker malts & faintly higher carbonation. Sweet Belgian brew with many unpleasant flavours. Not a fan.

26/04/2015 @ home 33 cl bottle from Drinks4U, Deinze. Dark brown with nice head. Dark malts, light roasted, fruits, caramel, yeast, clearly some hops. Regular brown with just a bit more.

33 cl bottle. Pours hazy to dark brown with a small off white head. Roasted and mild fruity to toasted. Sweet, fruity and toasted malty. Light caramelish. Bitter snd toasted malty finish.
