Bottle from More than Beer. Black coloured with a brown head. Nose is roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, oak, touch of vanilla, a bit boozy, whiskey, light salty. Flavour is roasted malts, coffee, more pronounced whiskey flavours, bit of liquorice, salty. Finish is fairly bitter and dry. Good stuff.

330ml bottle from Rosses i Torrades, Barcelona

Pours pitch black with a small bubbly brown head. Aroma of roasty malts, tar, burnt wood, smoke and ash. Taste is heavy, roasty and stingy with whisky notes, burnt wood, smoke and ash. Finish is warming, heavy and stuffy with some stingy whisky and woody notes. A bit unbalanced and stuffy.

33 cl bottle @ home, BBE 08.05.2015
Age at least 5 years – but still BBE comes sooner??
Aroma is musty with hayish notes, some wood and licorice. Flavour is musty with woody tones, whisky, hay, some licorice and soy sauce. Not good, I’d expect much more from a barrel aged IS. Well, at least this hides the ABV well.

Bottle and beer dudes tasting at Appellation Wines Comely Bank. Another monster stout/porter from BenH. Appearance - opaque black with a thin crema head. Nose - umami, aloe vera, big boozy notes, burnt wood and salt. Taste - chocolate and seaweed. Boozy plums and then liquorice. Palate - full bodied with a dry texture and a long, rich but very dry finish. Overall - so complex!

Bottle consumed at Cropredy ’Fairports Annual Reunion’ Festival, Cropredy, Oxon, Friday 8th August 2014 Pours black with a tan head, a smooth, very easy drinking and approachable Islay in fact Germolene and Elastoplast are noticeable only by their absence. This really is very smooth and with a little chocolate, its roasty, its good. A7 A4 T7 P4 Ov14 3.6
