From tap. Pours pitch black with a small tan head. Aroma is roasted malty and light chocolate. Sweet, roasted, dark malty and chocolate. Breadish and roasted dry into a bitter and dense chocolate finish.

Quite an intense roast malt aroma. Texture is smooth, thick and oily. Full roast malt taste but not overpoweringly bitter. Some coffee/cocoa in there Certainly doesnt feel like 17%.

Pitch blsck with a 2 finger creamy head. The nose is actually pretty weak. Very dark high cocoa chocolate with a mild toasted factor, cheap pancake syrup and vanilla. There’s no hiding the booze in this one. Incredibly boozy astringency is also high. Sweet and chocolate are redeeming but barely. Hard to tell what to do with this one. Age it? It’s interesting.

Shared with + thanks to AdamJackson & tderoeck! Sampled draft @ ‘t Schooltje. Black, thick small mocha head. Nose is thick roasted chocolate, tad soy sauce, powdery feel to it, faint herbal. Taste is roasted malts, syrupy, faint soy sauce but mainly powdery cacao & black berries syrup, powdery chocolate, lightly herbal, touch roast. Body is mix beteen substantial, touch syrupy & tad light. Drinks unbelievably crazily easy for the 17 % ABV. An improvement for Double Black to my preferences. Interesting beer for sure.

15/XI/14 - on tap @ Struise Schooltje (Oostvleteren) - BB: n/a (2014-1330) Thanks to AdamJackson and 77ships for sharing today's beers!

Clear dark brown to black beer, big creamy irregular beige head, pretty stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: caramel, vanilla, sugary, chocolate, bit spicy, cinnamon touch. MF: soft carbon, full body. Taste: holy bimbam!!! Very roasted, coffee, mocha, chocolate, caramel, hint of vanilla, bitter hops. Aftertaste: roasted, charcoal, hoppy, little sugary, quite alcoholic, dry bitter finish. Amazing good stuff!

Keg at Het Oude Schooltje, during the 3rd Zombier Anniversary, 18/10/14. Black with a big tan covering. Nose is rich roast, dark fruits, light spice, pine, bitter chocolate. Taste comprises liqourice, roasted malt, molasses, dark fruit tang, raisens, plummy vibes, tobacco. Full bodied, fine carbonation, warming alcohol in the close. Decent stuff, not to sweet, good bitterings and hop presence to keep things moving along nicely. As for the style ... hmmm, Not a strong lager/imperial pils for me, perhaps a black IPA?
