The beer is a medium gold. There’s some haze, but that’s probably down to bottle handling. Solid white head. Good lacing and retention. The aroma is full of fruity goodness. Big on peaches, grapes, apricots, tangerines, lemons. Lots of oaky vinous barrel flavor. Light vanilla and delicate malt sweetness. It’s all moderately sour, just a perfect touch of funky gentle vinegar. Dusty barnyard yeastiness. Taste has a lot of barrel character but the beer holds up well to it. It’s fairly dry but still packs a lot of fruit. Moderate to mild sourness. Light pucker. Tannic oaky finish. Excellent marriage of wine barrel, yeast and malt flavors. Maybe a touch of wheaty spice. Soft, full feel. Easy to drink. This was a very happy surprise. It reminds me of Sante Adairius more than anything. Excellent beer.

Bottle @ RBBSG 2015. Many thanks! Colour of apple juice. Sweet fruity nose, vinous, citrus, some balsamic vinegar. Very well balanced. Refreshing and tart. Notes of cider. Very good!

Sample from 75 cl. bottle. Clear, amber-golden colour with a thin, off-white head. Tart aroma with red wine barrel, spices, vanilla, sweet fruits, yeasts and vinous notes. Taste is lightly sour. Medium body with a creamy texture and a soft carbonation. Finishes dry and yeasty with bretts, spicy hints and fruits. Very enjoyable.

Special barrel aged Keyte with which the Oostendse Bierjutters celebrate their 10th beer festival. Aged on barrels also used for Ichtegemse Grand Cru, according to the bottle. Irregular, coarse, loose but sticky, off-white head over a warm, misty amber coloured beer with mahogany hue. Complex, rich, perfumed bouquet of grape peel, red wine, banana, figs soaked in liquor, vanilla tannins, passion fruit, strawberry yoghurt, pineapple, madera, lemon zest, wood, gingerbread and fermented pears. Soft, complexely sweet fruit onset, sweet grapes, mango, pineapple and strawberry, refreshing sourish lime peel accent, caramelly sweetness in a smoothly vinous texture, oud bruin-like with a mild drying tartness increasing in the finish, candied lemon, woody, red wine and unsweetened yoghurt, low hoppiness (just some background structural bitterness, just fit for this kind of beer), with residual fruit sweetness pushing through till the very end, but in beautiful balance with the tartness and the woodiness. This is the perfect hybrid between ’oud bruin’ and tripel, vinous, rich, complex and elegant, with clear influences of red wine and oud bruin. Very nice surprise and worthy to celebrate one of the oldest Zythos clubs in Belgium. Impressed, and I am certain this ages wonderfully (the best before date on the cap says 2037...). I have to get out to find another couple of bottles for cellaring!

Bottled. A hazy amber beer with a lazing beige head. The aroma has notes of over ripe fruits, yeast, and citrusy hops. The flavor is sweet with notes of citrus fruits, yeast, alcohol, and wood, leading to a tart finish.
