Courtesy of 77ships. Very thick, towering, rocky, irregularly shaped, pale yellowish beige head over a deep warm copper coloured beer with tiny bits of yeast floating around everywhere. Interesting aroma of vanilla (quite strong after a while but not really tannin-like), toasted bread, honey, cognac and indeed a hint of bourbon, some wood, walnuts, caramel, thyme, dried peach. Dried fruits in the mouth, nutty maltiness all the way through, sweet caramel touch, bit honeyish perhaps, very strong carbonation (too strong for the flavour to entirely open up), toasted accent, spicy finish, drying with quite strong vanilla, woody accent with some bourbon but not strongly so unless it is the vanilla which has to represent it. Weird, certainly not your average saison, overcarbonated, but interesting and enjoyable flavour. The vanilla struck me as being more present than expected - it almost seems added, but I assume it is established by the bourbon presence.

75cl bottle courtesy of and shared with 77ships. #55/420.

750 ml. bottle sampled & shared. 2015 Version - obv. BBF 05.2017. Bottle number 55/420. Deep amber & huge collapsing head. Nose is bourbon with a ridiculous amount of spices,… huge vanilla, cinnamon, spices, leaves but odd, fizzy with far too many spices, cloves & other stuff. Carbonation & out of hand, ruining the experience a bit; Taste is same huge amount of spices, cloves, cinnamon, spices, vanilla, it is almost a bit like eating a tablespoon of pure spices, quite a bit of bourbon also leaves, fizzy, spices,… Very odd beer,… A real mess but not entirely unenjoyable.

25/VII/15 - 75cl bottle @ Trillium tasting, home - BB: V/2017, bottle #55/420 (2015-986) Thanks to 77ships for sharing the bottle!

Clear deep orange beer, big creamy yellow head, pretty stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: orange peel, coriander, bit sweet, CO2. MF: bitter, pretty spicy, coriander, little sourish, some caramel malts, alcohol. Aftertaste: orange peel, bit sweet, hoppy, malty, pretty bitter, more coriander, weird sourish finish. Wouldn't be surprised if it was the start of an infection, 6.5% beer doesn't barrel age well...
