Thanks to Beerlover_Ben! 655 ml. bottle sampled @ “Hot & Sweaty RBBSG 2015”. 2015 Vintage. Blackish dark brown, little mocha. Nose interesting, quite a bit of sweet dark red cherry, barrel, vanilla, oak, caramel, dash dark fruit,… Taste is dark cherry, brown sugar, light oak, tannic, coffee, sugar, candy, dash booze / varnish,… Dash thin. Not superbly attenuated, dash messy but quite nice all the same.

22 ounce bottle into snifter, 2015 vintage bottling. Pours crystal clear very dark brown color with a 2 finger dense and rocky khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings around the glass with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big raisin, prune, fig, date, apple, caramel, toffee, toast, vanilla, red wine, oak, light chocolate/nuttiness, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great complexity and balance of dark/bready malt, fruity yeast, and wine barrel notes; with good strength. Taste of big raisin, prune, fig, date, apple, caramel, toffee, toast, vanilla, red wine, oak, light chocolate/nuttiness, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Light herbal hop/tannic oak bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of raisin, prune, fig, date, apple, caramel, toffee, toast, vanilla, red wine, oak, light chocolate/nuttiness, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt, fruity yeast, and wine barrel flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a very smooth, creamy, and lightly slick/bready mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is an incredible English barelywine. All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt, fruity yeast, and wine barrel flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the big ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.
