4 January 2020. At Dok Brewing Company, Ghent. Shared with the lovely Anke! Pours hazy golden with a thin, foamy, white head. Aroma of lychee, tangerine, pine, biscuit, fresh onion, grapefruit peel. Taste has sweetish tropical fruit, mostly pineapple, on biscuity, almost peanutty maltiness, with a bitter core of pine, spices & grapefruit peel, slightly dank too. Dry, resinous hoppy finish, lots of grapefruit, hard stonefruit & pine. Medium body, oily texture, fizzy carbonation. Correct APA, refreshing & thoroughly hopped.

American pale ale made at Dok in collaboration with Burning Beer Brewing Company (USA), hopped with Cascade, Columbus and Mosaic. Thick and creamy, snow white, dense, regularly shaped head, misty orangey peach blonde robe with somewhat ‘dirty’-brownish tinge (the early onset of oxidation?). Aroma of fresh orange peel, grapefruit zest, soggy biscuit, sweet stewing shallots, dried mango, rusk, olive oil. Crisp, cleanly fruity onset, pineapple, apricot and lychee aspects, sweetish, sharply stinging carbonation, smooth and slick biscuity and peanutty malt body with a very lightly toasty-bitterish and caramelly edge, soaked in very citrusy and delightfully vibrant hop aromatics, grapefruit, orange zest and pink pepper with a light dash of mango thrown in. A crisp, slightly quinine-like, medium long bitterness lingers, accompanied by minerally notes. Hazy APA alright, but nothing overly dank or sultry here: this is crisp, citric and to the point, with a very elegant and refreshing character, as well as that typical Dok cleanliness. Would happily drink this one again.
