White Oak is an equal blend of two beers. A wheat-wine aged in Bourbon barrels (we call it "White Oak Sap") and our Belgian-style Golden Strong Ale (Mischief) join each other in a delicate dance of flavor and character before we package the final product. White Oak showcases vivid caramel, coconut and vanilla flavors blanketed in a crisp yet robust wheat ale. A true exercise of balance.

2016 Edition--12.5% ABV. Big, sticky, gnarly wheatwine, a giant bourbon bomb packed with caramel and vanilla and brown sugar, starting sweet but slowly morphing into a fruity, boozy Belgian brute of a pint. Apple, dried apricot, fig, and sweet cherry show up towards the middle, while the back grows heavy with liquor and oak. Vanilla and clove accent the bourbon in the finish, while the fade is warm and sweet. A tad too sugary for my tastes, but I haven't stopped drinking this pint yet, so what do I know? Pours a thick, oozing amber-gold with a thin white head and spotty lacing. Full body has a tinge of heat, but it's a 12.5% beer, so why shouldn't it? Nose is more Belgian strong ale than barleywine. Not bad, but one pint's plenty.

Bottle at Black Christmas 2017; vintage 2013, 4 years old, 11.5% ABV
Cloudy dull amber color. Bourbon and some medicine aroma. Sweet mouthfeel, boozy, vanilla, no complexity, just boozy.
Underwhelming.
