Scottish Sour Ale fermented with Damson and Chamomile, aged in barrels. Fruity sweetness gives way to delicate floral chamomile and funky brettanomcyes character. Sweet damson accentuates the acidity and tannic notes from wine barrel ageing, while chamomile flowers provide a delicate counterpoint. The dry and tannic notes ebb to the lingering warmth of calming chamomile. And a finish as sharp as a sword-smith's master-class awaits.

Shogun Shaman - tyrannical tartness

500nl bottle online from Brewdog. Pours opaque orange brown with a few bubbles of head. Aroma: lacto, tart red fruits, vinous, balsamic, oak. Taste: dry, sweet 'n' sour tartness, puckering acidity, sour red fruits, red wine vinegar. Medium body, very light carb, acidic finish. Not well balanced, it's all acid. Yet another O/W beer released before it's ready. Hope it'll develop /settle down in the bottle over time

Keg at BD Castlegate. It pours cloudy murky amber - brown with a bubbly white head. The aroma is musty, fragrant, floral, chamomile, damson, mouldy basement, vinous, red wine vinegar, oak, cakey malts. The taste is crisp, dry, tart, puckering, loads of sour fruits, damson, raspberry, strawberry, some acidity, vinous, nip of red wine vinegar, jammy, lemon - lime, floral, green and dull tannin with a dry, slightly acidic finish. Medium bidy and fine, prickly carbonation. Not sure the balance is quite there. Has some nice fruit character, but a bit acidic maybe? Dont get me wrong it's decent, but not their best.
