Tripel by Den Triest, infused with a postmodern craft beer shot in the form of three New World hops; from a 75 cl bottle shared with Goedele and Sylvan. Snow white, moussy, medium thick, stable head on a misty deep golden beer with warm apricot hue. Aroma of dried lemonbalm, spice bread, banana, clove, red apple, dried orange peel, lemon thyme, moist white pepper, vague passionfruit and kiwi but certainly not the overwhelming New World aromatics that could have been. Sweetish, fruity onset, cooked pear, red apple and some banana, medium carbonated with full, soft mouthfeel; 'fluffy' brioche-bready malts with slight honeyish sweetishness on top, gently but extensively bittered by floral and herbal hoppiness, adding some retronasal aspects of lemongrass, passionfruit and pomelo without becoming truly IPA-like. A grassy bitterness and phenolic yeasty spiciness (4-vinyl-guaiacol) along with breadiness survive longer here than any true New World hop aromas - which is perhaps a bit of a shame seen the possibilities of the hops used here, but on the other hand I did find this one agreeable enough if viewed as a lightly 'craft'-influenced Belgian tripel.

Draft @ BAB’14.

Draught Lots of lace over slightly veiled golden beer. Fresh herbal, grassy hosp, very inviting. Lots of hops, grassy & herbal. Some restsweetness in the finish, nicely rounding it off. MF is a bit empty, just some slickness. Easy drinking beer, maybe a tad dangerous at 7+%

MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: some citrus, fruity, tangerines, little bitter, some grains, bit cheesy. Aftertaste: cheesy, some mango, soft bitterness, fruity, very English profile. Well done!
