Carling Black Label has been quenching South Africans’ thirst for over 40 years. As one of the most awarded beers in the world, it has built a reputation which is hard to ignore.
A quality brew The beer itself is one of the stronger lagers in South Africa with a clean, refreshing taste. It has a spicy hoppiness complemented by lightly kilned malted barley. There are also subtle fruity notes in the aroma and taste, adding to the depth of the beer. A dense white head and straw-coloured body characterise it.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Levi’s place. Thanks Levi. Pale golden with a white head. Aroma of grains, hay, acetaldehyde and some corn. Grainy flavor, slightly corny, with light sweetness, a papery note and a drier finish with a bitterish hint. Light-bodied.

330 ml. can sampled @ Pure Apricot Tasting. Thanks! Clear golden, little white head. Metal, hay, water, pale lager nose,… Taste is light touch metal, lager, hay, light malt, faint sugar,… Lightly metallic body. Little taste meaning actually pretty enjoyable for a pale lager.

Whipped eggwhite-like head, rather huge but fast receding over metallic golden beer. Faintly hoppy, bit grassy, strawaroma. Watery grainy to malty flavour. Finish bereft of any real flavour, but some bitterness (tad metallic) keeps hanging around, God knows from where. Spritzy. Empty. Bweuk. Txs to the bringers!
