Sampled from a 750 ml corked brown bottle this beer poured a hazy golden apricot color with an enormous foamy orange-white head that lingered forever and left good lacing. The aroma was sweet, musty, dusty and a bit tart with notes of lemon, pepper, orange, perfume, honey and bread. Nicely complex nose. The flavor was tart and a bit dry with orange, dust, must, pepper and perfume. Long finish. Medium body. Alcohol well hidden. Solid.

(Bottle, 0.75 l - BB 05-09-14, at Stadin Panimobaari) The beer poured golden and hazy. Its head was quite large and white. Aroma had fruitiness, tartness, wood and hops. Palate was medium bodied and dry with medium carbonation. Flavours were sweetness, tartness, wood, sourness, grass, herbalness and bitterness. Aftertaste was sour, hoppy and bitter. A very easily drinkable sour brew. Hops fitted in very well.

Bottle. Amber beer with a cream head. Grapefruit and oak aroma with light yeast. Grapefruit and yeast flavor with oak. Medium bodied. Grapefruit and yeast linger with light malt, oak, and light spice.

75 cl bottle. Pours hazy yellow with a small white head. Aroma is fruity and mild bretty. Toasted malty and fruity. Lingering bretty, fruity and light bretty. Smooth fruity and crisp finish.

Bottle picked up at Dranken Geers,Oostakker, Nr Gent, Belgie, consumed at home Saturday 31st January 2015 A little Brett picked up on the nose by Loz, but the oak also noted, the aroma is very much like Orval (not a bad thing at all!) Soft on mouth, really soft carbonation, sweet and saison like. Nice twangyness, I do keep thinking of the Orval, oaky edge, little bitter bite with hoppy edginess, its really nice. Oak lagered tripel celebrating the 120th birthday of the brewery; comes in special luxury bottles with cork, muselet and hangtag. Thick and sticky, snow white, dense head leaving quite some lacing, colour deep ’old gold’, clear with lively sparkles supporting the head. Malty and fruity aroma of gooseberries, melon, banana, grassy hops, lemon peel, vanilla-like tannins, calvados, field flowers, nutmeg, orange peel, gin, white pepper, honey, passion fruit. Fruity taste, sweetish, apple peel and orange, some banana, sharpish, sourish carbonation, soft malt sweet background, a bit honeyish, drying carbonation, coriander, leading to a long and dry finish of peppery, flowery and leafy hop bitterness (though I had expected a more IPA-like boldness), lingering malt sweetness, a citrus-like acidity, a (too) faint accent of sweetish woody tannins and somewhat astringent, ’jenever’-like alcohol. Apart from Petrus Aged Pale, this brewery has never astonished me with greatness, but I have to admit I somehow expected more from an anniversary brew in chique 75 cl bottles. The flavours do not seem to fit together all that well. Still, one of the better Bavik beers so far, that much is clear.

Bottle 750ml. corked. [ As De Brabandere 1894 - Oak & Hops ].Clear medium yellow color with a large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, white head. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, moderate hoppy, grass, grape, wine, oak. Flavour is moderate sweet, light acidic and moderate bitter with a average to long duration, dry, grape, tart fruit, oak, fruity. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20140925]

750 c&c from Bine & Vine. Pours hazy gold with a large white head. Mild sour aroma, suggesting pear. Med body. Flavor is moderately sour fruit like apple or pear. Very laid back sour. Quite tasty.

75 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ Mitra Beilen. Slightly hazy golden with a fine white head. hoppy aroma with some wild yeast/bret like characteristics, sour orange, candy sugar and a bit of woodiness. Sour taste but in the background some sweetness. Very nice semi-sour hoppy ale.
