Visibility: very elegant dark amber color, beautiful persistence of the foam head taken up by fine air bubbles, density and strenght. Nose: pleasant nose, fruity fragrance, light touch of citrus and a little hint of flowers complemented by a slightly roasted touch. Mouth: all that we perceive with the nose we find back in the mouth, a very moderate body provides an easy and pleasant tasting. We find the roasted touch back more then in the nose but the caramelized touch brings a soft sensation in the mouth. A slight warmth is felt in the back of the mouth leaving a slightly bitter touch. A second sip already presents itself…

330 ml bottle. Unclear orange body with a light, off-white head. Mild aroma of oranges among other fruits with some esters and spicy yeast. Flavor is sweet, mild malt, fruity, spicy and hint of esters. Medium body and average aftertaste. Drinkable, but pretty straight forward average ambrée.

Wallonian strong ’ambrée’ (almost a substyle of its own among Belgian ales) from a new micro brewery. Regularly structured, pale beige, moussy, dense head retaining extremely well (still completely closed after half an hour), over a pretty orangey copper-coloured beer, slightly hazy with some minuscule yeast bits here and there but of course murky brown amber with deposit, and strong, fizzy carbonation. Looks good, and smells good too: aromatic, floral hops and fruity esters abounding, with suggestions of orange peel, apricot, pineapple, banana liqueur, hazelnuts, cheese, honey, strawberry, toasted bread, fresh ginger, field flowers, bourbon and something subtly meaty (proteins), relatively clean and less ’messy’ and yeasty than many other Wallonian micro brews. Vividly fruity onset, sweetish dried fruits, pineapple, hint of banana, peach, paired with a citrussy fresh sourishness, yeasty with slightly powdery mouthfeel yet smooth and supple, fizzy carbonation but not disturbingly so, over a somewhat honeyish, caramelly and nutty malt backbone, lingering nicely into the finish, where it is supported by a peppery, leafy, quite crisp hop bitterishness and a hint of warming, bourbon-like alcohol, medium long and drying. Nothing that will change the Belgian beer map, but very solid, pleasant and appetizing, I sure enjoyed this. Good balance of sweet, sour and bitter.
