On tap at Foeders. Hazy amber-brown colour, no head. Aroma of wood, red fruits, vinegar, funky. Flavour follows, nice sourness, good Flemish Brown. Light bodied.

The unblended cask version of Brouwers Verzet Oud Bruin, at BBF. Yellowish beige, dense but quickly opening head, cloudy mahogany brown colour with amberish hue. Aroma of passion fruit, medlar, red wine vinegar, redcurrant, wet wood, dry sherry. Estery onset, very fruity, sour red berries and even red wine vinegar sourness, soft carbo, smooth and fluffy caramelly malts in the middle but the sourness persists and dries the mouth with little to back it up, tad woody in the end. Lacks a bit in elegance and complexity compared with e.g. Rodenbach Foederbier but I can certainly appreciate the fact that a small, new beer company invests in this - at least to the average consumer - waning Flemish beer style.

Draught [As Brouwers Verzet Oud Bruin, ABV 6%] @ Van Moll Brewpub. Lightly hazy medium to dark red color, small white to off-white head. Smell and taste are pretty sour, lightly acidic in the finish, very dry finish. Well there’s more to it but others can describe this way better than me. Decent, but not my thing.

150 ml. draft @ BBF 2014. Finally after missing out on this one for several years. Pours a murky orange fruit, light brown with no head. Nose is sour rotting fruit, tart, sour berries, tar malt, maybe an off-putting description in general but fans of sour beer will understand. Taste is sour berries, tart malt, lightly puckering, light vinegar, acidic, sour wood, overripe fruit, balsamic vinegar, puckering stone fruit,… Flat, solid malt body,… Quite a nice drink (even though the appearance scared people further down the table, these were probably people who had never heard about sour beer, granted).
