Bottle at Het Waterhuis aan de Bierkant, Gent, 07-12-07 Loz was unimpressed with this beer so passed a three quarter glass over to me in exchange for my one quarter of Klokke Roeland (think I did well there) Molasses or burnt sugar, honey and thyme on the nose of this muddy dark brown beer. The honey and thyme dominate the taste but like Loz I was not overly impressed.

(Bottle 33 cl) Courtesy of madsberg. Hazy, orangey brown with a beige head. Distinct aroma of ginger - or is it rather the thyme? Medium body with sweetish, roasted malt, very spicy - ginger again - while the finish is dry. 270607

Bottled. An unclear brown beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet and very spicy especially ginger and cinnamon. The flavor is very sweet with notes of malt, caramel, bread, and spices, ginger being most dominant, leading to a dry spicy end. Thanks MadsBerg for sharing.

Draught Fully hazy brown-orange beer with a small beige head. Extremely spicey nose, pine and cypress needles, cloves, cumin (a lot!), maybe lavender. Again spicey flavours, cumin, cinnamon, green cardemom, cloves. Sweet, touch of alcohol. Very full bodied, oily, pappery even. A bit heavy on the spices, no? Still, not an uninteresting beer. It’s for supping with the turkey, and getting stuffed in full. --- Beer aliased from original tick of Bière des Fêtes on 07 Mar 2005 at 00:54 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 8 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 8. Original review text: Nearly black brown; small yellowish head. Spicey - as tandoori herbs, or the coriander-mint-yoghurt sauce coming with the poppadums. Further some dark malts, but restrained. I know there’s thyme in it - and one can taste it: it gives the taste of a spiced roastbeef crust and gravy, in an (again) Indian tandoori way. Well bodied, nearly chewy. Amazing how this thymol can give (in combination with the beer) a multitude of flavours. This is a very nice beer, actually.
