Ever met a New Belgium Beer Ranger? They are our beloved folks out in the field. Spanning all 29 of our states from the Pacific to the Atlantic, our Beer Rangers do their best to protect, to pour and to partake. And explore many a beer from many a brewery, they do.

Bring out the hops! This clear amber beauty bursts at the starting gate with an abundance of hops: Cascade (citrus), Chinook (floral/citrus), and Simcoe (fruity) lead off the beer, with Cascade added again for an intense dry hop flavor. Brewed with pale and dark caramel malts that harmonize the hop flavor from start to finish, Ranger is a sessionable splendor for all you hopinistas. Thank your Beer Ranger!

12 oz. bottle. Pours light orange with a small, off-white head. The aroma is pine tar, resin, and earthy hops, with a little caramel and bready malts. The flavor is very bitter, with not much balance. The palate is medium, astringent, and acidic. The finish is dry, abrupt, and somewhat unpleasant. Overall, this is a mediocre IPA, with not enough balance or complexity.

Big thanks to Dan B. for this 12 oz. bottle! Used a shaker. Great nose of blended pine, grapefruit and floral notes. The flavor is similar as far as the hops, but this is balanced nice with a hearty malt backbone. Light to no bitterness. Enough carbonation to give a tingle on the tongue. Body is medium. Not a huge amount of complexity but it adds to the drinkability. I could drink this every day, very tasty. I would have reached for another bottle if I had one.

Pours gold into shaker. Off-white head with medium retention recedes to hug rim. Pine and grapefruit aromas. Medium bodied with caramel upfront turning to pine before a lasting, slightly stale finish.

On tap at New Belgium Pub at DEN. Northwest hops seem somewhat muted v expectations. Perfectly clear brushed gold with a white head that did not linger. Grapefruit and flora come thru more on palate than aroma. Nice beer. Bitterness is a little rough with malt not balancing this out.

Amber, bright. The aroma has earthy hops and caramelly malts...not very bright. Medium bitterness and some more of those bland caramelly malts.

4oz draft from Hanger 9 in a flight. Pours a clear, light orange with 1 finger of white head. Aroma of citrus hops. Taste is medium bitter. Tastes like piney hops. Medium bodied with a slick yet creamy texture. Average carbonation with a long bitter finish. Overall, very good. Definitely something to drink again.

Bottle. Golden amber with a gigantic head - frothy as hell. Citrus and floral notes in the nose. Oh this is nice. A combo of orange peel, grapefruit. Tons of hops. Tons of flavor. Tons of fun! Good stuff.

Whole Foods Market (P st)- DC 22oz ($5): Pours a copper color with a nice white head that leaves a good layer of lacing. Aroma is of hops and fruitiness (someone noted that there was a hint of blueberry, and I am definitely picking that up). Some pine in there as well. The front of this beer is rather mellow, with a little malty sweetness, but the hops get a little bit more bitter towards the finish. This is a pretty good mild IPA; nothing the matter with it at all.
