We're always looking for new, playful ways to approach the art of brewing, and with that in mind we invited Christopher Elbow back to the brewery to reimagine our very popular Chocolate Ale. This exciting new version adds the bright flavors and aromas of raspberry, for a fresh take on an old favorite.

Draft at Rustico. Hazy reddish maroon color. Aroma of chocolate covered raspberry bonbons. Taste has fruit up front, candy, cocoa. Tasty.

750 ml corked and caged bottle given to me as a gift from my in-laws. 121115 on label. The pour is a hazed orange golden with a slight pinkish and a light tan head with an additional touch of the pinkish hue. The aroma is fresh sweet raspberry along with some clean cocoa powder. The malt is present below the chocolate raspberry as well. The taste is a blend of the fresh tart raspberry and the clean chocolate, with toasted malt underneath. The palate is medium bodied with active carbonation and the tart fruit finish. Nice, and certainly as advertised.

Lotsbof raspberry and light chocolate. Good balance, and would be a great beer for my non beer drinking girlfriend. Sweet finish. Bottle.

Draft/Fest. A- Raspberry, slightly sour, jolly ranchers, subtle cocoa. A- Brown color, cloudy liquid, white head. T- Chocolate, raspberry. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- Let me preface by saying I hate the regular chocolate ale. That said, this was amazing. Tasted like a Russel Stovers Raspberry Cream filled chocolate. Very nice, but not the best looking.

Sampled from the tap at Republic. Pours a near clear deep, earthy amber with a light brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a spot on note of strong raspberry with some chocolate supporting. Flavor is nearly identical with strong raspberry up front and a growing chocolate note through the finish.
