Bottle split at Bruce’s pad, thanks to Kenwold, 12/06/14. #475/500. Chestnut brown with a moderate light beige covering. Nose is ripe fruits, Belgian yeast esters, toffee, bitter shandy notes, dark fruit peel. Taste comprises caramel, dark fruit, subtle BA effect, red berry fruit. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Ok, not overly dynamic, doesn’t deliver at lot for a BA beer or for the ABV, not unpleasant just a little whelming.

Bottle thanks to Ken. It pours dark ruby with a minimal beige head. The nose is roasty, sweet, earth, chocolate, dark fruits, candied, wood and sweet vanilla. The taste is sweet, roasty, cherry cola, caramel, vanilla and light alcohol in the background. Medium body, high carbonation and foamy mouth-feel. Not much wine action. Plenty of cola. A bit thin and foamy. Meh.

28.04.2014, 0,75l bottle (2013 vintage, bottle #480/500) @ home:
Big light brown slightly fizzy mediumlasting head. Aroma is slightly sour-ish, dark malts, dark sour fruits, sorrel, caramel, oak, unripe banana, chocolate, coffee, hints of licorice. Taste is slightly sour-ish dry, dark malts, oak, dark sour fruits, hay, caramel, chocolate, coffee, paper, alcohol. Medium bitterness, slightly dry and watery mouthfeel, high carbonation. Fair enough.

Pours dark and foamy. Looks like a stout but feels somewhat thinner and more flowing. Taste reveals the sourness of this beer - it has sour, fermented fruits, feels like a cider but not sweet at all. Besides well balanced sourness, I can also feels some roast, dried fruits. For some reason there is a hint of bee wax in the otherwise roast malt aftertaste. Very complex and multi-layered beer, soft but assertive.

Very dark brown color, almost black. Rocky light brown head. Moderately sour with red wine, toffee, tannic nose. Very interesting. The mouth is very light for 8%, notes of milk chocolate, red wine, toffee. Very well integrated and balanced. Never too sweet. Lingering sour finish with some red wine notes with toffee.

Bottle with the brewer. Almost black, orange-brown with a huge, airy head. Rounded, woody nose, chocolate, figs, cherry, spicy yeast. Great BA falvor, subtle yet unmistakable. Smooth, rich, great chocolate, dried fruits come out more than in the original. Silky, soft palate.

33cl bottle shared by Dutchdrebus. Clear ruby red color with a light brown head that diminishes fairly quickly. Smell is weird, a mix of glue, paint and wine, but somehow it’s not that bad. Taste malts, slightly apple, slightly alcohol, a champagne-like sweetness. I actually like the combination. Medium a bit tingling carbonation and a decent body. A lot better than expected.

75cl bottle, #153/2000, BB 10/2014, nice Japanese label kind of scroll type paper.
