750 ml. bottle sampled as “OWA Merry Christmas 2011” @ Barley Legal Tasting Room. Thanks to Kraddel! Dark brown, reasonable tanned head. Lots of glue / red wine , bit thin roasted, chocolate in the nose. Huge red wine everywhere in the taste, oak & tannins are a bit lighter in the back, sour red wine finish, grainy bit thin malt, dark fruits; skins. Bit thin, way nicer than the base beer but the base beer not being all that stellar keeps this from reaching real heights despite being a big step forward & quite lovely. The price tag from what I hear for this one is ridiculous.

Tasting at Bruce’s pad. Hazy deep red - amber beer, good pale tan head. Palate is light and airy. Superfine carbonation. Light airy malts. Touch of seltzer. Mild red wine tang and fruits, very mild considering the length of time in the barrel. Light airy finish with a touch of wood. A grower.

Bottle shared in London - big thanks to K-Bird. Pours deep brown with a creamy, tan head. Not bad overall, lots of dark fruits, bread, light metallic notes, some meat. Medium bodied with fine, creamy carbonation. Sweet finish, lightly warming, with some woody accents, more dark berries, toasty sugars. Nice enough.
