Draft at Bumba. Aroma of raisin, booze and malt. Flavor of thick raisin, booze, rum, malt and more booze. Slap in the face.

The 2016 anniversary beer by Laugar, an ‘eisbocked’ quadrupel apparently, at Bumb3r. Pale yellowish beige moussy ‘ring’ of a head over opaque blackish dark brown beer. Aroma of gingerbread cubes, melting caramel, port wine, cognac, treacle, candied dates, fresh thyme. Sweet onset, candied fig, dried plum, light sourish edge, quite ‘prickly’ carbonation for the style (and ABV) but refined; obviously very thick but supple and rounded, syrupy body, thickly toffeeish-caramelly maltiness with soft hazelnutty edges, leading to a peppery-spicy finish with long-lasting end bitterness but obviously more from rum-like alcohol than from hops, though a spicy hoppiness is there and the alcohol behaves relatively decently for this ABV, warming the throat without becoming overly ‘hot’. Very pleasant sipper, also because Laugar refrained from creating a 20+% ABV ‘liquor beer’ and kept the quadrupel character of the basic beer largely intact.

Sampled @ Billie's Craft Beer Fest 2017. A very dark brown beer with a mid sized most good lasting Tan head. Aroma of riped Red fruits, wood, boozy. Taste of intense sweet malt, honey, sugar, riped fruits, boozy.

(Thank you!) Sampled draft @ Billie's Craft Beer Fest 2017. Oh lord why would you eisbock a BE styled beer? Very dark brown to black. Taste is unpleasant varnish, painfully alcoholic, raw oak, BE fish guts, brutally herbal. Taste is plastic, stupidly harsh alcohol, concentrated fish guts BE liquorice, spices, hard to drink, tastes even boozier than it is, very thick. Not for me & very hard to drink.
