Brewed with UK craft beer legends and good friends of ours, Thornbridge, we present to you a lustrous Doppelbock. We and Thornbridges' brewers Dom & Rob share a love for German beer, especially the classics. Ayinger produce one of those favourites, 'Celebrator' and in this collaboration we raise a glass to that beer.

Brewed at the end of last year, the doppelbock has been in hibernation, lagering in the tank over winter. Full bodied, dark, sweet and hosting a whole plethora of flavours! Rich malt, roasted coffee and chocolate raisins with touch of toasted breadiness all sing together harmoniously and are backed up with a baritone of warming alcohol content.

Langer, cremig malziger Nachgeschmack. 9/12/12/10/7/12

Can from Made Inn Ashford and drunk at home. Black beer lasting tan head. Oily tannin molasses aroma. Slightly roasted. Doesn't drink its abv. Interesting and has drinkability. Molasses raisins currants fruity malty beer . Flavour has some dark plum but is mostly juicy currants. Dry finish. Not too sweet. I would expect a German doppelbock to be a bit sweeter. Good though. Yes liked it

Can at home, from Rad Beer, 27/03/20. Extremely dark mahogany brown with a decent khaki cap. Nose is toasted brown sugars, dark malts, light spice, toffee, fruit cake. Taste comprises fruit cake, treacle toffee, dusty fruits, light spice, dates, raisins. Medium plus bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced lick of alcohol. Decent … sweet, malty, fruity, balanced … what's not to like.

200ml draught at Brygg. A deep ruby shade to a near-black body, clingy lacing down the glass, beige patchy surface. Inviting aromas of caramel malts with moments of liquorice. Well-blended malt-driven taste character of choco-caramel and nuts backed by hints of prunes. Smoothly roasted malty ending. Well bodied. Good drinking. (Oslo 06.03.2020).

Can from Honest Brew. Dark brown body with a beige head. Good lacing. Aroma of plum, nuts and liquorice. Flavour of caramel and prunes. Medium body with a smooth texture. Soft fizz. This is fantastic. A worthy tribute to Celebrator.
