Legado de Yuste is the beer that gathers all the traditional values from the expert hands of Flanders Master Brewers brought by Emperor Charles V during his retreat at the Yuste Monastery. An abbey Ale made from Extremaduran barley malted as Vienna malt, which gives the beer both its flavor and its old golden color, selected aromatic hops Perle and Saaz (from the Czech Republic), yeast and sugar.

A copper color. Small head that left little lace. Thin taste of malt and gentle hops.

Belgian-style amber claiming to date from the time of Charles V. Sticky, lightly beige head, thin but stable and staying closed the whole time. Amber colour with brownish hue, clear. Aroma of caramel candy, cookie dough, walnuts, green tomatoes, orange, white pepper, sweet tobacco. Subtle sweetness, mineral-like carbonation, vaguely sugary, smooth, caramel malt sweetness, strong ’nuttiness’ with typical taste of Vienna malt, finish still with caramel-like sweetness as well as a leafy hop bitterness. Not that bad, actually, but industrial and too ’clean’ for the style.

--- Beer merged from original tick of Legado de Yuste on 25 May 2018 at 13:42 - Score: 3

Bottle sample at a tasting at the Maierovicz’s place. Thanks kerenmk. Clear amber with a white head. Aroma of caramel, malt and a bit of cardboard. Sweet flavor of caramel, fruit candies and a drier finish with a light spicy hint. Medium-bodied.

Bottled 330ml. -from El Corte Inglés Madrid. Clear amber coloured, medium to big sized off-white head, dusty malty nose. Moderate malty, caramel and decent fruity with slight acidic notes of dried fruits in the finish. Pretty average.

Huge thanks to Ogi and Maja :). Kinda wanted to try this one for awhile now - an ale brewed by a huge Spanish macro. So... what’s it like. Lovely copper body with a big off white head. Dusty, grainy nose, saliva, sweet maltiness. Nice, big maltiness in the taste, some candy, light sourness, chewed up bubblegum maltiness, not too sweet, light bitter aftertaste. As average as expected.

330ml bottle bought at El Corte Ingles Palma. Deep golden-brown body. Firm, near white head, some of it remaining. Spotty lacing. Dried fruity aroma of plums and prunes. Sweet dried fruity flavours with underlying caramel offset by a dark spicy ending. Medium ending. Pretty nice (hotel room, Port de Soller 10.07.2013).
