On cask at Monty's Bar. Appearance - opaque black with a lovely fawn head. Nose - light smoke but molasses at the same time. Taste - again and interesting combo of smoke and sweeter notes. Palate - smoky, toasty and medium bodied. Balanced bitterness on the finish. Overall - well made porter.

Cask-conditioned at the Gryphon, Bristol 13/6/2018. Near black in colour, with a slight, off-white, head. Leafy hops, dark berry fruits, some toasty malts, a touch of creaminess and fairly gentle finish. Enjoyable.

Can from Wetshill Service Station. It pours opaque black with a medium beige head. The aroma is fresh, roasted malt, blueberry, bramble, jam, earth roast, toasted nut and cacao nibs. The taste is dry, bitter, rich roasted malt, earthy, peppery spice, cacao, berry, light ash and char with a drying and peppery finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Rather nice.

Black beer, beige head. Complex smell of coffee, tart and bitter fruit, malt. Flavour has the same qualities, with light citrusy hop making for a nice contrast with the more traditional porter flavours of malt, chocolate and coffee. Light but bitter aftertaste. Not too shabby.

Can from Cork Cask. Black body with a medium beige head. Faint lacing. Aroma of coffee, blueberry and earth. Flavour of charred wood, plum and a hint of cranberry. Thin body with a watery, slightly frothy texture. Soft fizz. Ashy and berry-like. Decent.
