A low-alcohol pale ale masterpiece. Boasting the complex aromas and flavours of all Harviestoun brews, but with just 2.3% ABV for those looking for a beer with a gentler nature – like a whippet itself.

Can from local Home Bargains store. Pours a golden yellow with minimal white head. Stone fruits in the aroma, with traces of malt. Initially sweet and juicy in the mouth with metallic undertones before old school hops kick in. Texture is rather watery with lack of body (as might be expected from the ABV). Other than that however, it’s pretty impressive.

330ml can. Opalescent, dark yellow-ish to orangey golden colour with average, frothy, moderately lasting and lacing, snow white head. Minimally grainy, caramel malty and slightly leafy, minimally citrusy, hoppy aroma, notes of lemon tea, lemon. Taste is minimally sweet and grainy, caramel malty, slightly leafy and minimally citrusy hoppy, hints of lemon tea, lemon, dark grass. Minimally oily, watery texture, smooth and soft palate, fine and soft carbonation. Light and drinkable, a tad too earthy to be really refreshing - OK.

Amber with a fleeting, foamy head. Aroma is a peach, green grape, citrus mix. Taste is less inspiring, dominated by a stale, flat bitterness with very little undertone. Finishes better, bitter and fruity. Body is light, texture watery. Mixed bag overall, but drinkable.

Can from Beers of Europe. Appearance - golden with a very special off white head. Nose - gentle lemon and pine. Taste - soft, slight soapy with still a little citrus. Palate - light bodied, gentle middle and finish. Overall - ok.

Can from Aldi Inverurie. It pours clear golden - amber with a foamy white cap. The aroma is quite light, tangy citrus, along the lines of lemon-lime, biscuit, touch of grass and light toffee. The taste is dry, light bitterness, pithy, waxy citrus peel, soda water, grassy, peppery spice and not much else. Finish is slightly soapy. Light body and average carbonation. A bit thin and insipid to be honest. There are much better low.no alcohol beers out there.
