Bottle. Jet black, small white head. Lots of soy, very boozy, light fruit, strong oak, and smoky whiskey. Mouth feel is thin, and slightly oily, with a soft carb. Very sweet, roasty finish, syrupy sweet soy notes, with a boozy finish. The barrel cut a bit of the sweetness, but not enough.

CBJ Tasting. Thanks to the team. Near opaque dark brown beer, small bubbly tan head. Airy palate, fairly dry, decent fine carbonation. Caramel and oxidised paper vibe. Fruity whiskey and bourbon. A little spice in the finish. Smooth and tasty, and ripe!

Bottle split at the ‘rar’ date tasting in CBJ, thanks to whoever provided this, 29/02/2024.
Light black with a beige cap that thins to the edge.
Nose is dark malts, dried fruit esters, light charr, figs.
Taste comprises dark malts, cocoa powder, dates, light spice, charr.
Medium plus bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a kiss of booze.
Not bad for its age.

Bottle from Beers Of Europe. Appearance - very dark brown to black. Thin fawn head. Nose - sweet spice and woody notes, with an underlay of dark chocolate. Taste - creamy milk chocolate this time, that's mostly it, but just an edge of booze and sweet spice from the barrel. Palate - medium to fulll bodied and creamy textured. Sweet and long finish. Overall - very nice.

500ml bottle. Pours an opaque black with a small, creamy, short lived, brown head that dissipates to an outer ring, leaving lace. Sweet aroma of chocolate malt, caramel, toffee, bourbon, molasses, vanilla and oak. Sweet flavour of chocolate malt, molasses, licorice, coffee, vanilla and oak with a warming bourbon finish. Medium body with a smooth but watery texture and soft carbonation. Very nice, the ABV is well hidden. Quite possibly their best effort yet. Slightly better than VP 01.
