An Englishman Walks Into a Bar.
In 2002 Mikael Dugge Engström, the founder, CEO and Brew Master of Dugges Bryggeri, had a meeting with an Englishman. What was said at the meeting has long since been forgotten. What was said at the following pub visit is why Mikael in 2004 started Dugges and why we are here today, 15 years on.
This beer, and the two other beer that make up this series is a ’Thank you’ to everyone who’s supported us by enjoying our beers since that first ever mash-in by Mikael Dugge Engström 15 years ago. We raise our glasses for you.

330ml bottle from Chez Sophie. Pours dark, moderate tan head. Strong spicy nose focussed on cinnamon. Nice and rich on the palate, though nicely balanced and drinkable for 15%. Cinnamon seems to lead the charge in terms of spice, some chocolate and perhaps a little almond accompanying the hefty malt. Really enjoyable and drinks well.

bottle at home... August 2020... dark black... thin tan lacing soft rich dark chocolate roast coconut spiced malts nose..... dark rich heavy roast... warming malts... soft coconut.. rich heavy roast.. nice

Svart med lys brunt skum. Lukter mørk sjokolade, marsipan, kanel, kardemomme og kaffe. Fyldig. Smaker marsipan, salt lakris, kaffe og noe sitrusskall. Middels lang.

Flaska från SB. Svart med brun krona. Doftar och smakar av det mesta som finns i. Muskot, kanel, kokos, choklad, lakrits, likörpralin, marsipan, osv. Stor och maffig men blir inte för mycket. Viss hetta från alkoholen. Gott.

Bottle at home. Pours black, nose is vanilla, tonka, chocolate, liquorice, fruit, taste is similar, creaamy, sweet, lightly roasted. Surprisingly well balanced.

(Bottle, 0.33 l - no BB marking on the cap, at Pien, 20200620) The beer poured black. Hardly any head. Aroma had burnt malts, dark chocolate, spiciness and cocoa powder. Palate was full bodied and warming with medium carbonation. Flavours were burnt malts, dark chocolate, cocoa powder, spiciness, ash and bitterness. Aftertaste had dark chocolate, cocoa powder, burnt malts, alcohols and bitterness. A very heavy brew with complex aroma and taste. The very high ABV was rather well hidden.

Heiteri tunne tuleb peale, aga no see üle võlli magusus ja ülevõlli vürtside, tonkade jms panemine õllesse ei ole päris minu teema. Ja no ikka räigelt lääge on. tegelikult otseselt halb ei ole, aga joodavus on madal - terve pudel üksi on tõsine katsumus.

330ml. Massively spicy and complex aroma with some cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, chocolate, tonka, vanilla, coffee, coconut, almond and nuts. Like a spicy mole chocolate sauce, heavy and thick but still it somehow manages to be balanced and nothing is overpowering. Well, except for tonka. This was actually better than I expected. Nice one. Reminds me of Perennial's Abraxas but with a bit more spiciness.
