Pours black with a slight creamy tan head. Odor is light citrus followed by very dark malt. Med minus body. Flavor is thin dark malt. It is bitter. However, this is not a substantial beer. But it is rather flavorful.

11.2 oz bottle. Pours almost opaque mohogany with a medium beige head with decent retention; leaves some creamy lace. Aroma is pretty muted but a little bread shows through. Taste is bittersweet with a dry and somewhat salty finish. Has a wet river rock/mineral flavor in the finish. Crisp and refreshing. Average carbonation. It could be more roasty, but I like it.

From my beer friend nike, BIG THANKS! This is a nice looking beer out of tghe bottle. Nice rocky head. Smell is clean and crisp with a tad of roastyness in there. A nicely flavored easy to drink beer. Has some of that slaggy flavor in there. Some bitterness tries to build but it never quite gets there. Mild for the most part and at 4.5% it goes down rather easy. Enjoyable beer experience. Not as strong or personified as many schwartz but it gets close, yet more flavor than a dark lager. Most guinness is fun to take and so is this, not bad overall! Thanks B!

Pours black into a pint glass. Mocha head crackles and pancakes as it slowly recedes leaving sheet lacing. Slightly burnt toast aromas. Dry with pumpernickel and chocolate upfront turing slightly sour in the toasty finish.

Bottle as shown. Pours a very dark brown with a medium frothy beige head leaving spotty lacing along the glass. The aroma is a bready malt and licorice. Medium mouthfeel with a sweet malt and chocolate with a light bitter finish. A good schwarzbier from Guinness.

Whole Foods, P st, DC sixer ($9): Pours black with a quickly dissipating, kind of funny colored head. Light chocolatey aroma, with some roasted malts. A hint of that typical grainy lager aroma in there as well. Body is actually a little watery kind of like seltzer. But, the tastes that are there are good. Certainly no off taste in there, but not enough taste to really justify this beer’s existence. In any case, I am glad Guinness tries out new things.

12oz bottle. Poured a dark black color with a small tan head. Aroma was roasted malts, touch of coffee perhaps? Taste was bitter, dark roasted malts. It wasn’t too bad actually, had no idea they made this until I found it in some random mid-west grocery store in August.

12oz bottle from Pick’s poured into an English Pint. Pours a dark black with about 1 finger of frothy tan head. Aroma of black roasted malt and a slight hint of coffee. Taste is lightly bitter and very lightly sour. Slight hint of coffee. Light bodied with a thin yet creamy texture. Lively carbonation and not much of a finish. Overall, not too bad. Nothing I would seek out but I would definitely choose this over any BMC.
