12 oz bottle. Pours clear golden with a small white head. Aroma is a honey sweetness and biscuits, mild spicy hops. A nice hoppy flavor with biscuity malts, a bit of green apple, much drier than the aroma suggests. Very astringent, which detracts from the experience a little and is reflected in my overall rating. Otherwise, seems like a pretty solid pilsner to me.

12oz bottle from TJs poured into a white wine glass. Don’t know how fresh this is, stamp is completely useless. It is a clear golden color with a small head. Aroma is old grassy hops and lagered stale white biscuits. Taste is similarly uninteresting white bread malts and a hint of hop bitterness at the end. Eh, this is boring and useless.

12 oz bottle from Trader Joe’s Bakersfield. Nose of grassy hops and light corny graininess along with a tiny bit of skunkiness. Clear gold with a small white head.Flavor is slightly bitter and a touch of caramel. Another OK Biersch beer.

12 oz. bottle from Trader Joes in Glen Allen, VA. Pours orange with a very slight haze. One finger head gives way quickly. Aroma is very grassy with a bit of skunk. Taste is grass, grain, skunk and a bitter finish that does not live up to the name. As esjaygee says, yes, this this is very astringent.... almost hot. What were they thinking here?

Grassy hop aroma typical of pilseners. Amber gold color with a white head that stays for awhile. Thin to medium bodied. Moderate carbonation. Light malt, not quite caramel. Some bitter. The finish is at least bitter. Dry, almost astringement. Drinkable.

Hopfest is a strange name for a pilsner. It is an OK beer, fairly light. Some grain in the aroma, kind of a smells like a Blatz. Flavor is lightly hopped, with dry malt and a dry finish. Easy to drink. It does look good, pale, light gold color and a substantial white head.

Pour is a golden with almost no head. Aroma is a nice mix of malt, hops and a bit of grassy hay. Flavor is ok but weaker. Deffinatly pils malts with a dash of hops. You could prob name 5 better German pils than this but the price of $1 a bottle is a selling point. Not really bad but you can’t really go wrong with this style.

Bottle. Golden beer with a cream colored head. Slight spice and floral aroma. Slight bitterness with some spicy/floral flavor with a bit of malt backing. Finishes dry with some light mineral tones that linger. Medium body. Easy drinking.
