Qroontje, brewed on express demand of the largest Flemish Dentists’ association, is a Belgian wit - however, NOT in the ubiquituous Hoegaarden style, but more in the line of Leuvense Peeterman, Neeryssche Dobbel-wit or other historic wheatbeers (wit has to be translated as tarwe, wheat; not as white).
The name is a reference to something dentists like to make, as to the peculiar spelling, the label says it all.
55% pilsnermalt, 35% wheat, 7% oats, 3% biscuitmalt, Spalthops. Separate fermentation Saccharomyces and Lactobacillus.

33 cl. bottle purchased @ Beer Planet // split with Antoine @ Delirium Hoppy Loft // you should have seen his face when he was trying to drink this, wasn’t particularly thrilled with getting a glass of this // labelled as Wadesda #2, same kind of label as #1 // very hazy golden & big white head // smell is ? huge sweet orange peel, cold tea with lots of white sugar, cheap ice tea, stale Nestea, this is more like one of those canned Lipton tea drink, I don’t mean like the regular ice tea soda but the ones that actually had like tea in them & tasted like that with sugar & some weird additives & hippy stuff // taste is cold tea, lots, very thick wheat, nestea, spices, sweet camomile, herbal, herb. tea, that canned tea stuff described before, lots of bitter peel in the peal & the bergamot from Earl Gay, hell even Earl Gray itself, very long finish // too thick & too carbonated to really drink // very aptly name Wadesda means Whatisthis // sour traditional wit beer, tastes like a blend of soda, tea & maybe beer // close to impossible to rate or even put in terms of good or bad // very odd one // suppose Joris did his homework well, this is how wit beers used to taste like, wtf? // is this too young? does it still need to mature a lot? Has this been fermented? Questions, questions,… // too bad Joris cannot rate this because frankly I am curious as to what he would rate this

Bottle courtesy of Sebletitje. Bottle labeled Wadesda. Pours very hazy pale golden with a huge grayish white head that slowly dissipates while leaving some thick lacing on the glass. Smell is sweet and sour with hay, lemon juice, lemon zest, funk and hints of sour milk. Taste is tiny sweet, bitter and tiny sour with hay, wood, cloves, wet leaves, lime juice, lemon zest and wheat crackers. Mouthfeel is very dry, tiny tart and light bodied. Finish is tiny bitter and tiny tart with lemon zest, wheat crackers and cloves.
