Bottle [thanks to 77ships] @ weekly tasting shared with Dutchdrebus. Hazy golden color, medium to full sized white head that lasts for quite a while. Smell and taste malts, lightly bitter, a slight touch of yellow fruit. Decent body and carbonation. Not bad.

Bottle @ benzai. Clear golden yellow colour with a medium sized creamy white head. Smells fruity, malts, not a lot of aroma. Tastes malts, rusty, copper, iron, banana, wheat. Medium body, soft carbo.

Mortsel’s ’city beer’ named after the ’Oudegod’ area there and available from tap since 2002 but bottled only since 2009. Thick, rocky, yellowish white, equal head and deep ’old gold’ colour, clear with vivid sparkling but cloudy after adding the deposit. Fruity and rather weak aroma of peach, gooseberry, lemon peel, honey, grains, iron, cheese, soft floral hops. Soft fruity taste but a bit on the neutral side, subtle citrus touch, pretty strong carbo, slick mouthfeel, mineral-like, bit metallic too, ending malt sweet with a volatile aromatic hop bitterishness, diffuse and quickly fading away again.

33 cl. bottle // split with tderoeck @ home // purchased @ ALBO // this beer was commissioned by the city of Mortsel when it gained the title of city // brewed @ De Proef for a long time this was served only at receptions & weddings, occasionally in the city hall // now it appears to be commercially available, with an extremely limited distribution it seems // Oude God is a local chuck, not a bad looking one at that // appearance is lightly hazy golden, reasonable sized, stable white head // smells of banana yeast, sweet citrus, grains & Belgian styled floral hops // taste is medium Belgian yeast, dash banana, citrus, touch fake, air refresher, hay, floral hops, grains // medium body, really spritzy carb. // better than anticipated, far from as bad as rumoured // way better than wat is happening to the roads of Mortsel these days

29/VI/2012 - 33cl bottle @ 77ships' place - BB: 20/III/15 (2012-673) Thanks to 77ships for sharing the bottle!

Clear blond beer, big creamy white head, stable, little adhesive. Some very small sediment floating around. Aroma: grains, yeast, hay, bit grassy, slight touch of citrus. MF: too much carbon, medium body. Taste: little sweet first, pretty yeasty, bitter hops, some dairy, citrus. Aftertaste: grains, cereal, barnyard, hay, little bitter.

Very thick, creamy, yellow head over orange-golden beer. Nearly sharp spicy nose, going over in fully sharp vegetable notes, as some wild form of celeri, chervil... Overpowering bitter-liquorice taste, extremely powerful and aggressive, burnt. Burning MF, medium bodied, slick. Well - don’t like it. Too green for me - as the "City"...
