A classic Pale Ale this is a product of one of the UK’s oldest breweries. Whitbread Pale Ale is malty, almost sweet, with a moderate caramelly bready taste, but balanced with very moderate hops.

Whitbread Pale Ale is pleasant to drink and recommended for those who think they don’t like darker beers.

Whitbread Pale Ale goes great with food and even cheese!
In 2018 brewing was transferred from Wellpark to Windsor & Eton.

Rated from old notes. Drank this one on a visit to London and was stunned because it was not the Whitbread I remembered. Only later did I confirm the American and English brews were completely different. Thin, watery, and textureless. Disappointing.

Bottle @ random bar. I asked for the stout but I am pretty sure that this is what I got. Clear amber with a white head. Malty, pale, cheaper, more iron, odd lingering spices, almost mint and mineral bitter aftertaste, quite odd and off-putting, bitter and a touch of not the finest hops. Lighter bodied. Not too good.

Bottle @home. Nice amber color, small off-white head. Smell malts and caramel. Taste malts and lightly sweetish. Low bodied, low to medium carbo.

Bottled. Amber colour, not much head. Aroma is raisins, sweet caramel, some wood as well as mild vanillaish and sugary notes. Flavour is quite much the same. Very vintage.
