Bottle, 0.33l. Cloudy dark brown color with thin creamy tan-like head and average sparkling appearance. Aroma of caramel, mild roasted malt, dried fruits, scotch and vanilla. Taste starts with moderate sweet toasted malt and chocolate, follows by dried fruits sweetness and mild acidity, mouthfeel is warming alcoholic, while finish is mild bitter. Medium to full body, sticky texture and average carbonation in palate. Strong, sweet and that’s pretty much all of it...

Pours a very dark coppery almost dark brown color, topped with a small and quickly settling off-white head. Malty aroma, caramel and some roasted notes, with easily picked up strong liquer aromas. Taste is sweet with nice chocolate presence, alcohol is very well hidden. Didn’t expect such a nice and surprisingly gentle taste after such aroma. Great taste.

Old rating. Bottle from Old Town. Nice aromas of cacao, coffee and butterscotch with a slightly boozy aroma present. Tastes more of the same with the malts standing strong. Alcohol does show a bit as it warms up. Bits of vanilla and oak come out as well. Nice smooth finish.

Tasted from draught. Creamy, dark chestnut coloured, chocolatey, fruity Scotch with warming alcohol in the finish and some roasted bitter; bit one-dimensional, but okay. It’s a pity Belgians don’t use the term Scotch anymore, because even though typical for the style, this would come out a bit poorly if compared with the many Scotch-style winter ales still produced here, but not named as such.

Bottle from the Beer Store. Dark reddish brown pour with a small tan head that fades quickly. Nose is dark fruits, caramel with some vanilla and peat. Quite sweet throughout with raisin, cherry and molasses with only a very light bitterness in the background. Medium full creamy body and a long sweet finish. Nice and sweet but not cloying.

12 ounce bottle. Dark reddish brown color topped by a small beige head. Toasted malt aroma with notes of toffee and cocoa. Sweet caramel malt flavor has a nutty character with hints of vanilla and an underlying smokiness. Finishes sweet with a cocoa maltiness. As I remember, this is a slighter version of the McEwan’s Scotch Ale available some years ago.

The pour is a dark brown color that leaves the same colored body. Two fingered white foamy head that once it dies a nice spider web lacing sticks around the sides of the glass.
The aroma has peat, light chocolate, deep malts, just a touch of caramel all coming through smokey and sweet
The taste is sweet through the malts, chocolate and caramel. Sticky sweet aftertaste with a long dark sweet finish.
On the palate, it sits about a medium, shows that its more of a sipper and has a smooth carbonation to it.
Overall, I’d say this is some pretty good stuff that I would have again.

11.2 oz bottle, thanks brenn79. Aroma is sweet, toasted marshmallow, fruity esters, minerals, very English. Pours clear mahogany with a one finger beige head with decent retention. Taste is sweet, finishing dry with a little tartness. A little oxidized. Oily texture, full body. A little too sweet for me.

Bottle: Pours deep, almost see-thru brown with a craggy, tan head. Caramel and chocolate scent. Taste is thickly sweet caramel.....a little dark fruit note, chocolate syrup. Creamy. Very sweet....dessert worthy.
