Orange and amber color, slightly hazy. Caramel and cinnamon aroma. Thinnish caramelly flavor. Apple and melon, some alcohol. Hints of cinnamon, rosebuds. Flowery. One of the better Duysters beers, which isn't too difficult.

Hazy medium amber colour, small frothy off-white head, mostly diminishing. Aroma sweet malt, overripe apple and pear, treacle, caramel. Taste medium sweet and light bitter, malty, caramel, bit fruity, alcohol notes. Sweetbitter aftertaste, earthy and spicy notes, medium body, oily texture, sharp carbonation, rustic country ale, very nice.

’Streekbier’ from Diest but brewed in Melle, with yellowish white, moussy, stable head and darkish orange blonde colour with brownish hue probably due to ageing, cloudy and a bit ’soupy’ with obvious yeast and protein flakes floating around everywere. Nutty and caramelly malts in the nose, apple, lemon zest, grapefruit, cooked rhubarb, cloves, dough, pepper, honey. Subdued fruity taste, some citrus, sharp carbonation, malty caramelly middle, finish medium hoppy, pleasantly bitterish. Tasted at 4 years of age and apart from the somewhat messy appearance, this was still quite enjoyable, though I will probably not remember it for the rest of my life.

Orange/copper colour. Decent lasting thin head. Aroma is spicy, peppery. Low carbonation. Quite a smooth feel. Soft malts. A little bit sweet with some spiciness on the tongue.

19th Oct 2012: 33cl bottle in ’t Puur Genot, a strange Irish type bar in Diest. The 7.5% ABV beer came out into my glass like dirty dish water, murky and grubby brown looking, nice head of off-white bubbles though. Caramel and candy sugar aroma and flavour to the brew: a lot more malts than hops in this unbalanced, yet not unpleasant beer. Fruity notes came through as it warmed a little but the overiding taste was of sweetness from maltly molasses. The alcohol could be found and some yeastiness also: but although I enjoyed the bottle I didn’t order another, nor will I ever again.

9/VII/2012 - 33cl bottle from Willems (Grobbendonk) @ home - BB: III/12 (2012-707)
Clear copper red beer, big noisy off-white head (yes, it makes noise!), unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: ripe banana, overripe fruit, bit spicy, citrus, little chemical, bit dusty, paint. MF: good carbon, medium to light body. Taste: malty, grains, bit of caramel, mocha, burnt toast, spicy bitterness, little metallic and slightly sourish, overripe fruits and banana. Aftertaste: bitter, grains, little metallic, sour touch. Not very good, yet not undrinkable either.

33cl bottle from Dranken Geers, BB 05/2012. Bottle shows brewed at Loterbol.
