This is the #1 rated of the Oak Aged La Trappe Quads. I’ve heard great things. Let’s see how this one tastes. Cherry Red with a ton of disgusting looking sediment. Creamy very sticky off white to brown head. Fades very slowly..really nice lacing. Spicy nose of cinnamon, very yeasty and it has a creamy liqueur almost milk like aroma. Loads of figs and oak. Taste is interesting. This has a booziness that far exceeds 10% in taste. More of the cognac liquor taste. cherries and yeasty bread dough. Sugary sweet and figs, raisins and prunes. Even at 3 years old, this beer still has a long way to go before it can chill out with the booze bomb. Still very good and the lingering vanilla is very nice.

Bottle: Poured a dark hazy brown color ale with a medium size brown color head with good retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of oak and Cognac notes are well balanced with residual sugars and dry fruits notes of base beer. Taste is a nice mix between some dry raisins and residual sugar notes of based beers with light candy-like ester and some Cognac notes (I know there is no Cognac but that’s what the flavours made me think of). Body is about average with good carbonation and alcohol is slightly apparent. Very enjoyable and aging is not apparent at this point in time.

Very hazy deep red - brown beer. Decent cream coloured head. Palate is light and soft, semi dry with mild carbonation. Soft dry wood, trace of vanilla. Sweet floral bubblegum. Mild malt cream. Whisper of sweet red berry fruits. Neutral finish. Nicely joined up. These oak aged La Trappes have a unique character.
