Roasted barley, malted oats and Kent-grown Fuggles hops combine to create this luscious, bible-black stout. First brewed for the Eddie Gilbert seafood restaurant and now brewed in honour of its founder, our friend Jonny Dunhill.

Bottle with a best before of 1/6/2010 thanks to bu11zeye. Pours with a tan head and a deep brown body. Aroma of saltwater toffee and mocha. Taste is saltwater, bitter oyster-fishiness, chocolate and salt. A lot of oyster flavor compared to any oyster stout that I have had. Creamy carbonation.

Bottle, Beer Ritz, Leeds. Poured black with a reddish hue and a fading medium sized tan head which vanished to leave what looked like a glass of oil. The aroma had some licorice with dark chocolate notes. Flavour was gently sweet with similar traits to the aroma and some winter fruitiness mingling with the roasted malt character. All leading to a dryish bitter finish. Good one...

Bottled. A deep red beer with a brown head. The aroma has strong notes of fruits, malt, and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, roasted malt and a bit of wood, leading to a dry finish. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of madmitch76. Pours black with a reddish hue and a rough beige head. Hard roasted malts in the nose, a little salt also. Medium body, a little low in carbonation, hard roasted malt with a faint peaty touch. A little tar and malt bitterness in the finish. 091109

First rating 9/11/2009Little yellow rim, good imitation of B.C."H.", over black beer with some orange highlights. Pungent smell of goat cheese. If there’s oysters in here, those unfortunate mollusks must hail from the infamous Ordralfabétix shop, I’m sure. Roasted malts... really not inviting. After some serious venting, roasted-sweet flavour, turning to bitter, partly roasted, partly hoppy. Faint coffee flavour, finish again slightly sweeter, but again some cheesy upsurges. Pretty demure. Creamy, near velvety MF, if well-carbonated, despite the lack of visual proof hereof. The nose really was unappetizing. Rest is way better, if certainly not great. Was: 4/4/6/3/12/2.9 Second rating 16/08/2014Huge dark greige head, lacerings, black beer. Smoked, as in smoked ham, mineral, but not fishy, sorry, oystery. Smoked, again cured meat, dried ham, and in the finish, yes, seawater; Medium bodied at least, slick, even a bit oily. Not bad. More a smoked than an oyster stout.

Bottle, 6.2%. The aroma has a grassy hoppiness. Almost black colour. Small stable light brown head. The flavour also has some grassy hop notes. Quite vinous finish.
