Opaque black beer. Mild dark malt nose. Quite a crisp palate for a stout. Light as well. A little lactose sweetness well blended with the dark malt. Not dry or bitter. Fresh tasting and minerally. More Porter than Stout for me but light and drinkable.

Cask @ Brussels British Embassy Jubilee garden party.

Bottled at chriso´s. Near black, small head. Fruity coffee aroma. Mid sweet with medium body and clean, rounded mouthfeel. Mid intensity flavour of chocolate and prunes, some ashy bitterness.

Bottle: Almost black, small tanned head, rural leathery nose, traces of chocolate underneath; moderate bitter-sweet flavour, medium bodied as expected; dry malt-bitter finish, dark malt and chocolate included. Not great.....

[330ml bottle from The Bottleneck, Broadstairs] Deep ruby-black with a moderate tan head. There’s a slight fizz but a smooth, rich, creamy mouthfeel. Plain chcolate dominates at first, followed up by a strong (but not too burnt) roastiness. Port, liquorice and blackberries develop, and there’s a spicy kick in the finish. An interesting and complex stout that’s a delight to drink. Nice one!

Sehr weicher und überaus milder Malzantrunk, etwas süß. Süffig, weiterhin sehr weich, selbst die aufkommende Bitterkeit ist mild. Cremig, interessant. Danke an DerDoppelbock für das Bier! 10/9/10/10/10/10

Gravi-cask at the Planet Thanet beer festival. It pours near black with ruby highlights and a thin foamy tan head. The nose is sweet caramel, toffee, sesame seed, soy, seaweed and some dark fruit. The taste is toffee, sea salt, cherry, charcoal, wood, grass, toast, varnish, filter coffee and cardboard, with a long-bitter finish. Interesting, but overall it’s too unbalanced to enjoy.
