Ins Glas ergießt sich ein schwarzes Bier mit schöner bräunlichen Schaumkrone. Geruch röstmalzig, Schokolade. Geschmack sehr röstmalzig, angenehm cremig, schokoladig, erdig.

On gravity at the Tewkesbury winter beer festival, 7/2/2014. Black, with a slight, off-white head. Plenty of chocolate, a hint of the sea, some roasted malts and a dryish finish. Good.

Thx! for the sample. 33 cl. bottle sampled during Zwanze Day shenanigans. Dark brown, blackish with a tanned head. Smell is liquorish, touch dark berries jam, some roast and faint chocolate. Taste is that of sweet liquorish, dark berries, big sugar, some herbs and lighter roast, light coffee, touch chocolate. Touch less carb. med. body for a lower ABV. Stout, not special or anything but pretty satisfactory. Not getting any associations with oyster, taste-wise, I have had oysters only once in my life.

21/05/2013 Mad For Beer (tap). Corpo medio, carbonazione soft. Elegante, misurata ma appagante.

Cask handpump at White Horse Winter Best of British Beer Festival, Chelmsford. Black with soft head - great looking pint. Little by way of aroma, mild chocolate, but more chocolate came through on drinking. Full bodied.

Cask @ In De Wildeman. Deep dark color, but not quite opaque. No head to speak of. Aroma’s: roasted/gebrand, sweet drop/licorice, cocoa. Flavor is medium sweet, roasted. Body is medium. Still quite some carbonation. Finishes fairly dry, roasted (some ash) and medium bitter. Really nice.

Bottle at home in London. Pours clear, red-brown with a small, beige foam head. Dry, ashy roast nose. Light to medium sweet flavor, more ash, light roast, light baking cocoa, mellow earthy bitterness. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Semi-dry finish with plenty of baking cocoa, restrained roasted malts, some dried cherries, light bitterness. Very pleasant stout, though certainly not a super complex beer.
