Tasted mar-10. BB apr-09. Great stuff still. More wellbalanced and fantastic beer. Still hoppy and much more creamy. Old rating:9-4-7-3-15. Bottle. Creamy off-white good fully lasting head. Amber colour. Fantastic aroma, lots of nice hopps. Too sweet flavor, especially the finish gets sticky. Good beer still. Too watery comparing ABV.

Bottle. Beautiful dark amber/brown color. Nice creamy head. Aroma is spicy and very powerful. Taste is rich and spicy with a distinct aftertaste of alcohol.

Hazy brown, fine amber head. Vinous, quite oaky aroma, somewhat dusty. Wooden baseflavor, somewhat alcoholic, pineapple, vineous, diacetyl, brett, dust/cardboard. Most of the body/sugar has been eaten in this sample - light body. Probably past its prime, but still pretty flavorfull.

Bottle Clear; deep amber (almost black) body. Lightly brown, frothy head. Nose of esters, port (red and white) and straw malts. Lightly sweet initial, lightly bitter initial flavour. Moderately sweet, ligthly bitter finish. Somewhat spicy flavour and lightly alcoholic, causing a very warm mouthfeel. Easily fits into the Gouden Carolus-series, but kind a weird for a Easter beer, because you don’t think of the spring when you drink thisone, you’d rather think of Winter, as Caeser mentions. But all in the end and these latter irrelevant remarks not taken in account, this is a very lovely strong ale.

Clear red-brown color, off-white head. Aroma of licorice, some roasted malt. Strong taste of malt, some caramel and licorice. Some anis. Very obvious Gouden Carolus brew. Almost like they used the leftovers of the Christmas version to get this beer.

(Bottle 75 cl) Dark brown with a reddish hue - almost mahogany. Thick, light brown head, that hangs on to the glass. Almost liquorice aroma - and flavor. Exactly like the same brewer’s christmas brew. Apart from that a very good hardcore Belgian, lots of dark, burnt malt og sweetness, that might not get the required contrast from the hops. The Belgians don’t really have a tradition for easter beers and I’ve read that this one - just like St. Feuilliens’ easterbeer- is brewed directly for the Danish market. 100404

Dark deep red-brown beer; irregular, yellowish and dense head. Very alcoholic (not only ethanol) nose, a perfumed fresh greenery aroma, interspecked with some vegetable oil, as for some exotic recipe. Again an exotic taste: like the Indian yoghurt-with-mint-and-corianderleaf sauce, with a vegetable (soja+sesame?) oil flavour. Chocolate is there too, but not bitter at all, rather a sourish edge, marrying itself well with the fine vegetable, green spice flavours. Some plum, warming up. Full bodied, oily & slick. Special one, very unusual flavours. Brewed on demand of a Danish importer, now even available in the country of origin! Good one for my personal 6000th.

Deep red/amber body, with short lived light brown head. Dominated by an unexpected aniseed / licorice aroma with some spice and malt. The flavour is also very spicy and I suppose it’s a hit or miss beer. A hit with me, but I couldn’t drink it every day. Probably good with fat foods.

Bottled, 10%, 0,75l. Dark amber/brown colour with decent foamy head. Strong licorace aroma with weak hints of malt. The flavour is made of mainly licorace, but olso some spicy notes can be found. Nice aftertaste of licorace. A bit "sweet and sour" sauce feeling over it. Very nice beer. Hides alcohol very well.

Dark ruby, big brown head. Aroma of parfumic licorice and sweat of hot summer day. Supringsly light bodied, hidden alcohol very well. Same kind of spicey and licorice flavor than in Gouden Carolus Noël but not so complex, some cooked banana. Finish has some salty-sweet mix with slightly alcoholic flavor. This one would propably be better when well-matured.
