31/X/13 - 33cl bottle from De Hopduvel (Gent) @ home - BB: 28/X/14 (2013-1017)

Clear deep orange to amber beer, aery off-white head, pretty stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: honey, ripe to overripe fruits, funky (is it bretta?), orange peel. MF: lots of carbon, medium body. Taste: if I ever tasted an Orval clone! Eat this, Mikkeller! Bit funky, somewhat fruity, orange peel, pretty bitter hops. Aftertaste: bretta, though probably artificially bread, bitter adn dry hops, lots of citrus, some grapefruit. Lovely beer! For me, this is the winner of the series.

33 cl. bottle @ home. Procured from De Hopduvel. BBF 28/10/2014. Brett, spelt malts, coriander, orange peel and Smaragd hops are listed amongst the statistics and ingredients. Very murky brownish fruity amber, very high carb. ~ insta-gone head. Sticky dark fruits syrup in the nose, prune jam, light dark bread, quite hoppy, fruity hops, light bread. Taste is big prune jam (interesting), other grains (spelt I suppose), dark bread, ripe dark fruits, light musty sweet red grapes, even touch ripe dark berries, definite brett presence, sweetish with brown sugar and syrup but also some hops. Very high carb. & murky body. Messy but I am a big sucker for beers like this. Bit puzzled as to why they did the competition if they released all 4 beers.

Bouteille 33cl @ Délices et Caprices, séance dégustation. BB 28/10/2014.
