Dense black pour with a tall, creamy tan head. Aroma of roast malt, coffee, chocolate and alcohol. The flavor has lots of roast barley giving it a rich, bitter bite. Roasty with lots of burnt edges. Not sweet and sticky.

Flaske på RB samling hjemme (takk til Odd Gunnar): godt røstet kaffearoma. Fint men kort skum. Ganen fylles opp av bitter og syrlig kaffesmak, dristig humlebruk og en maltkropp som fyller ut i svingene. et øl for gutter&piger med hår på brystet.

0.65l bottle from Barley Wine. Been saving this for a while. It pours a near black body with a nice big almost creamy looking chocolaty head that's quite lacing. It smells really nice with salty licorice, roasted malts, leather couch, soft vanilla, some chili-like coffee, also traces of chocolate and something slightly reminding of burned bread. Not bad at all. Oh, it's soy-salty with tons of licorice in the taste this! The carbonation is definitely present and it has a good thick oily mouthfeel. Mmore salty licorice with both strong espresso coffee, south American coffee, something slightly spicy and the chocolate is dancing on my tongue. The alcohol percent is totally absent in this one. Roasted dark flavors with a salty soy and strong licorice touch would sum this one up pretty nicely. Flavors that I always want more of! 27.12.2012

65 cl. bomber // pirate, metal, whatever themed label // black, very dark brown, lighter beige head which is semi-solid // medium burned roast in the nose upfront, liquorice, light nuts, touch molasses and bitter mocha // medium but clearly upfront roast in the beginning, lightly burned coffee grounds, bitterness lasts with some light hops in the back, pine, behind it there is some mocha, nuts, touch liquorice sweetness plus some chocolate milk // body is in the medium range as far as imperial stouts go // not bad – although I have come across little truly dreadful RIS – but certainly not top of the game // still sort of what expected & I expected this to succeed more by image than taste // originally intended for the second session of RBBWG II which is likely not going through & every possible attendee apparently has already had this so it has now claimed as a spoil of war // thx. to Beerlover_Ben
