A special brew on the occasion of the opening of the abby tower in Sint-Truiden on May 1, 2005. This triple has a somewhat darker (orange like) colour and a slightly fuller taste than our Kerckomse Tripel, if only to clarify that these are two completely different Triple beers. What makes Adelardus Tripel so special, is the use of so-called ‘gruut’. This is a mixture of about 10 different indigenous herbs.

On tap at Moeder Lambic. Golden color with big head. Biscuity. So sweet. Promising aroma, it’s different. Taste is intensely sweet, caramel, vanilla. Low carbonation and booze for a Tripel. Okay. Lecker, but not as expected.

330ml Bottle - Dark gold/amber with a haze and a small head. Yeast, grain, yoghurt, spice and lemon in the aroma. Fruity, yeasty and moderately spicy taste with notes of apricot, peach and some subtle notes of coriander. Easy to drink and enjoyable.

0,33L bottle. BB 09.2017. Pours hazy golden with off-white head. The head stays for a moment. Aroma is sweet, fresh fruits, some hops, and yeast. Flavor is sweet, fresh fruits, citrus, spices, yeast. Finish is sweet fruity and dry bitter. Overall: very nice, maybe a little bit too sweet.

Cloudy medium golden colour, small frothy white head, recedes quickly, leaves almost no layer, light lacing. Aroma sweet malty, yeasty, orange peel, honey, candy sugar, herbs, alcohol. Taste medium sweet, caramel, light bitter, yeasty. Full body, oily to creamy texture, finish malty bittersweet with herbal and spicy notes, alcohol. Not your typical tripel because of the herbal impressions.

The blonde counterpart of Adelardus Trudoabdijbier Bruin, added to the range in 2006. Creamy white, not very stable head on top of a deep golden beer (’old gold’) with little fizz. Nose gets honey, pear, banana, orange peel, elderberry flowers, coriander but also less appealing impressions of cardboard and iron; taste kicks off in a malty and fruity sweetishness, soft, rather thin mouthfeel, slightly spicy yeast, finish with some warming alcohol but falling a bit short in hops balance.

Flasche (33 cl) vom Hopduvel, Gent, 1 Jahr daheim gelagert. - Rotgold, trüb mit reichlich Schwebteilchen; kaum Schaum. - In der Nase hefige Süße, Waldhonig, Kandis, dazu eine herbe krautig-gewürzartige Note. - Im Antrunk kräftig herb-fruchtig, Bitterorange, Kräuterlikör, Kandiszucker. Mild rezent, vollmundig. Breit malzsüß mit robustem Karamelmalz. Im Abgang eine eigenartige Gewürznote, die an Kräuterlikör erinnert und von der zugesetzten Gewürzmischung („gruut“) herrührt. In die kräftige Malzsüße eingebettet, fällt sie hier nicht so störend auf wie beim Adelardus Dubbel, ist aber doch kein vollwertiger Ersatz für guten Hopfen. - Recht ordentliches, kerniges Tripel mit einer nicht uninteressanten Gewürznote. Für ein Bier von 9 % gefährlich süffig.

Helder geel bier met gemiddeld koolzuur. Kruidige smaak, koriander en citrus die lang blijft hangen.

Geproefd op 16-03-2014. Adelardus heeft een heldere oranjeachtige blonde kleur en een wit gelijkmatig en stabiel schuim. Het ruikt een beetje naar mout. Je ziet weinig CO2 belletjes. De smaak is bitter te noemen, ook heel kruidig door het gebruik van de gruut, de alcohol komt ook lichtjes opzetten, het heeft een korte scherpe zelfs wrange nasmaak. Voor mij zijn er in dit biertje teveel kruiden aanwezig. Maar het is mischien een interessant biertje om bij het eten te nuttigen en dan denk ik aan steak of iets dergelijks met fritjes.
