Serious gushing to towering yellow head over fully muddy orange-ochre beer, laced with UFO’s. Spicy-vegetable-phenolic nose; farawy lighlty peated malt, cookies dough. Very neutral taste, only retronasal again this faint phenolic presence. Charcoal, diluted in a sodadrink. Finish has some (CO²?)acidity. Hardly medium bodied, definitely overcarbonated. Not even the citrus, let alone the whisky is well-defined. Overcarbonated alco/sodapop. The only Scotsman I can see standing for this, has been downing for a lifetime Tartan Lager.

Bottle 750ml. @ Tasting by Benzai [ ZZT V ].Clear medium amber orange colour with a small to average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, leather, wood, peat. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet with a long to average duration, peat - smoked, dry, plastic, infected !! Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft and fizzy. [20121006]

Light amber colour, off-white head, some big floaties (with the words of Joris P: UFO’s). Aroma of brett, funk, light fruity apricot. Funky flavour, tart, over-ripe fruit, light sulphur. Finish boiled egg, funk and sickly.
I’m not a big fan of the way this beer has developed. Where has the whisky gone?

75cl bottle @ ZZT V. Hazy orange color, no head. Smell sourish, mint, and something else but I don’t know what it is. Taste malts, sourish, mint, something weird. Medium body, medium carbo.

Zythos Bierfestival 2012, Leuven, Belgium. It pours clear copper with gold edges and nice tan head. The aroma offers up smoky and peat notes as well as sort of alderwood and some malts. The taste has plenty of smoky notes to go around along with some rubbery band aid too. Into the finish mild malts and sweet dark fruity esters are noticed well behind the smoke and band aid. Smells nice but it gets a tad rubbery.

Has a rusty, light brown colour. Smokey and slightly salty aroma. Texture is rather thin and watery. Lots of whiskey barrel type flavours, wood, smoke, tobacco. It’s not quite refined enough. Perhaps it will age well?

Draft @ ZBF 2012 // clear golden orange with no head // smell is heavy on a fruity peat mixed with a touch burned rubber, tires, smoked ham, all of these in a good way // taste is citrus, highland, enjoyable light touch of burned rubber & light peat, herbal, hint of grains, meaty smoke // medium bodied & fittingly well-carbonated // a lovely whiskey beer

15cl sample @ ZBF’12. A scotch? a smoked beer? you tell me.
