Jet black with a lasting and creamy off-white head. Aroma of licorice, ink, dark berries and figs. Extremely dark but still somewhat soft and only with a hint of roast impression. Thick, full bodied and sweet flavour with chocolate, roast malt and fruit, and a bit of ash. Borderline cloying, but nowhere near Dark Lord

Bottle shared by badnewsbeers. Deep opaque brown-black body, thin-medium clumping ochre head. Potent cocoa nose, paired with coffee, cedar, and vegetal, mushroomy notes. Potent, sharp body, with cedar, coffee, and chocolate, huge burnt brown sugars, and vegetal notes. Rich and complex with a bitter finish. Dusty and salty. Very good but the vegetal quality diminished my enjoyment of the beer.

Bottle thanks to Ibrew2or3: Poured a black tar with a brown head. Aroma was spicy cedar and hops. Taste is sweet up front with chocolate, licorice, burnt roasted malts and yet had that IPA feel in the finish with nice hops. I only wish I would have had this a little younger to fully enjoy the brewers intent with the hops.

Bottle thanks to Sean! Poured black with a medium sized wooden brown head. Aroma was amazingly intense with strong notes of dark chocolate, fresh coffee grounds and a note that I just couldn’t put to words, perhaps a bit of wood. Flavor was equally intense with very strong coffee and dark chocolate notes and a bit of underlying caramel.

Bottle at Pilsner Peter’s RBSG 2010. Pours tar black with mocha brown head. Nose is mocha, alcohol and molasses. Taste is mocha, light whiskey, smoke and roasted coffee.

750ml bottle pours a slightly viscous, opaque black with a creamy, brown head. Aroma of black, toasted malts, light smoke, molasses, licorice, a little woody. The woodiness comes through in the flavor as well, with black toast, coffee, light smoke, licorice, a little cherry or berry. The flavor is very nice. Full bodied with a sweet finish that has a tinge of coffee.

pitch dark, smooth dark brown creamy head. aroma is very blended. coffee, mellow roasted stuff, slightly sweet.faint hoppy. flavor is very woody, coffee, roasted grains, charchoal, licorice, hoppy, dry. a very dry yet also quite chocolaty and malty stout. most of the flavors are maxing out the scale, alc totally hidden. palate is thick, oily and very sooth

Taste: Smokey flavor with roasted malts, chocolate, alcohols, bitter hops
A very nice beer. This was the second time I’ve had this beer and enjoyed it both times.

Bomber. Opaque black body, oily sheen on the side of the glass. Big dark tan head, mostly diminishing. Aroma of wood, cedar, roasted malts, plastic with hint of molasses and earth. The flavor is moderately sweet and moderately bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and moderately bitter. Slightly tart, dry. Medium to full body, creamy texture that turns slightly chalky. Moderate carbonation. Much more muted than anticipated, especially the hops, in both aroma and flavor — neither overly sweet or bitter, the aroma and flavor relying mostly on the cedar notes as its backbone. Thought that was a plus for an imperial stout because this was easy drinking with a nice balance. Interesting mix of the flavors that are there.

been looking forward to this one for a while, thanks to Dak and zath for the helping me get ahold of a CCB beer. Bottle, pours a very thick black with a nice dark tan waterfall that leaves a mean frothy dark chocolate head. Nice aroma of roasted coffee, light cocoa notes and pronounced spicy hop notes. Very rich malt character, some black patent, burnt sugar and again a coffee touch. I taste a faint earthyness which I think may be the cedar, but it is light and really doesn’t add or subtract from the other huge stout flavors going on. Really nice!
